Good morning Twister comrades! How would you like to spread some cheer around Halton with your teams? Due to the pandemic we cancelled Twister Day Pink the Rink however, we are hoping that all Twister teams from Tyke to Senior Women's and Rep will all still participate and do an act of kindness or giving to some needy groups in our Halton community. As a hockey family, Twisters have always stepped up and donated to many local organizations as well as our monetary donation fr...om Pink the Rink to Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills of $4000.00 from last year's event. We would love to showcase your team on the Twister website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so please let us know how you are spreading the Twister love, Christmas spirit, kindness and giving back to our community. You can get creative and have 1 or 2 people from each team collecting with porch drops or at practices to minimize contact. Every little bit helps. Stick taps already to the U11 BB team for their generous donation of personalized Christmas gifts to seniors in Georgetown. Some organizations that are always in need of cash, gift cards, hats and mittens and non perishable food items: Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (CasHH) Salvation Army Georgetown Bread Basket (Food Bank) Links to Care (Youth Services) Let's show the rest of Halton that even through a pandemic we can still help those less fortunate! Please share this message with your team and let the good cheer begin. Merry Christmas! Kim Morrison-Edgar [email protected]

Return to Play Update We hope everyone has had a safe and restful summer. As the fall approaches, we wanted to take a moment to update everyone on where we are in planning for the upcoming season. There is still a lot of uncertainty as to exactly what hockey will look like but here is what we know so far. The Ontario Hockey Federation, the governing body of hockey in Ontario, has released the return-to-play framework that sets out how hockey is to be structured as we return t...o the ice. We are still awaiting confirmation from the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association exactly how the OHF framework will be applied to girl’s hockey and hope to have a more detailed update from them soon. We are also working with Milton and Halton Hills to ensure we meet the return-to-play requirements for their arenas. The OHF framework envisions a staged return to play process with increasing flexibility in each stage. Progression through the stages will be determined by the OHF in consultation with public health officials. We are currently in Stage 3A and as of September, we are expected to be in Stage 3B. This will allow us to run skills development sessions and have 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 games in-house. Please see the latest version of the OHF framework for full information on future stages https://www.ohf.on.ca//tukpd/ohf-return-to-hockey_0731.pdf. Please also see the link to the OHWA website at http://owha.on.ca/ for information and updates. We intend to run the best programming possible under each stage of the return-to-play framework. It is not yet certain exactly what this will look like and it may vary by age group and team/level. If you intend to play with the Twisters for the 2020-2021 Season, it is important that you complete the intent to play registration as soon as possible (further details to follow). Completing your intent to play registration will help us determine ice requirements and how best to structure our programs. We are not asking for any payment at this time, as we do not yet know exactly what the season will look like or what our costs will be. We know that this is a difficult time financially for many in our communities so we will be continuously striving to ensure value-for-money as we plan our revised programming. We know many of you still have lots of questions. Many of them do not yet have answers. We thank you for your patience as we work hard to answer them and get ready to go as soon as we are allowed to do so. We will keep you up-to-date as we learn more. Hockey will be a bit different this year but it will still be Twisters hockey. Our goal is to provide every Twister with as fun, exciting, and safe year as possible. Looking forward to seeing you at the rinks soon, Kevin Salmon President of the North Halton Twisters

While we miss seeing you around the rink, the health, safety and well-being of our extended hockey community remains our priority. The North Halton Twisters would like to thank all of the front line workers who are in our family for all that you are doing during these difficult times. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been taking our directive from Hockey Canada, the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) and the Town of Halton Hills and Milton. At this point in time,... we are not in a position to open registration for the 2020/2021 season, nor can we establish a timeline for Rep level tryouts. We are in communication with Hockey Canada and the OWHA and will update our membership as more information becomes available. In a recent communication from the OWHA (see link below), they state that we will be permitted to open player registration shortly, but there will be certain guidelines regarding their return to play structure. As we await further direction from the OWHA, we are working alongside The Towns of Halton Hills and Milton to help develop a reopening plan for their ice rinks that will ensure our players safety. One thing we are certain of, the upcoming hockey season will look a lot different than years past. We appreciate your patience as we work with all of the governing bodies to develop a return to play structure that creates a healthy and safe experience for all Twister players and families.
