Today, November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and it also marks the first day of the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-based Violence.

North Island College’s Library and Learning Commons is holding their second annual Late Night Against Procrastination event - but this time virtually! What is the purpose of the Late Night Against Procrastination? To create a productive, stress-free virtual space where you can get a head start on papers, projects and studying for exams while being supported by your NIC community! What happens at the event?... We will offer our academic supports of research and writing, PLUS students can get advice on study tips and wellness from an NIC counsellor, help with nursing research, and win prizes! Do I need to attend the entire event? No! Please feel free to drop-in at any time. If you have an appointment with one of our support staff, you will have a specific appointment time. Join us for our next Brave Spaces Conversation! The topic of conversation for this session will be Gender-based Violence. Date: Wednesday, November 25, 2020 Time: 12:00pm to 1:30pm PDT Email [email protected] for the meeting link.... Join us for a panel discussion on the history of gender-based violence and what we can do to address it. The session date also marks the first day of the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-based Violence. We will begin with defining gender-based violence, as well as expand on the definition of gender. Panelists will be asked several questions related to Canada’s history of gender-based violence, and we will discuss what we can do to address and prevent gender-based violence in our communities. You will have an opportunity to ask panelists questions at the end of the session. The session is free to all members of the NIC community. What is a Brave Space? A brave space is a place to come together to have healthy yet challenging dialogue around important issues facing students and global citizens today A brave space is a place for the respectful sharing of thoughts so we can all gain a better understanding of each other’s perspectives, encourage critical thinking, and to learn from each other.
