What a wonderful surprise we received today! The students at the Vernon Community Music School have created a virtual Christmas Concert to bring the Gift of Music to you and your families and to our residents at Hospice! The concert is on YouTube with a total of 58 video submissions so the concert is approximately 1 1/2 hours. Please enjoy this recital along with us!

The Vernon Elks Lodge #45 was established in 1920 and has played an active role in our community since that time. The Elks vision is to become the most progressive organization, meeting community and member needs. The Vernon Elks Lodge #45 have been great supporters of our Hospice House for many years. Thanks so much to Lodge Secretary Maureen Sather (left) and members for their recent donation of $1,500 that was presented to our Financial Officer, Eileen Wang (center), on December 14, 2020!

If you haven't checked out this gem in Vernon, please visit ladies boutique South of Pine Street Fashions. Owner, Shella Ledingham, and her team not only have exceptional clothing but they are also significant supporters of our community and our Hospice! Each spring and fall they host a fundraiser for Hospice through their annual fashion shows. This year they hosted an auction instead and we are thrilled to accept a cheque for $2,270 from the proceeds raised through this initiative. Thank you to all who supported Shella and this great cause!

Free groceries available The Fig for anyone in need! They have partnered with Myrika Godard from Give Luck to provide anyone who is going through difficult tim...es right now with some free groceries. She has been so kind as to collect all of this wonderful food for anyone who may need it. This has been a strange year and they are definitely not through with it yet. The holidays are difficult times for many and they would like to help anyone who may need it. They will be using some of the groceries to combine with The Figs Free Meals for Seniors program that has been running since April, but they have plenty more for anyone else who needs it. It is all honor based, so if you need anything please come on down and help yourself or you can even pick up and deliver to someone who cannot leave the house right now. Thank you The Fig & Staff and together we can all spread some joy and some good during this difficult time See more

Right now is the very best time to reach out to family and friends you have not seen or talked to in awhile. People are feeling incredibly alone right now and t...he few minutes it would take you to write a quick note, could make the difference in how they are feeling... You can mail a note, you can send an email... you can even just send a text message... just take a quick moment to remind someone they are not alone!! A few things you could say: "I just hugged you in my thoughts... hope you felt the squeeze." "Just wanted to say that I am thinking of you at this difficult time. And if there's anything you need I am here for you, so don't hesitate to let me know. Sending you all the love and hugs in the world." "When I want to smile, I know exactly what to do, I just close my eyes and I think of you." "Just wanted to let you know... you're in my thoughts... all the time!" "I was just counting my blessings... and decided to send this little greeting to one of them." "Today, if a smile comes to you, a happy smile that perhaps... you can't explain...it's because in that moment, I am thinking of you and smiling too."

We are grateful that we can count on our very dedicated volunteers who greet and screen our visitors, take care of our gardens, support our grief and bereavement program, assist with house maintenance and do dishes in the kitchen. We couldn't deliver the excellent care that we do without them!
