King tides.. NPC is always alive. Not your ordinary museum and National Historic Site. Brave volunteer assistance. So grateful for good stewards. The remnants of Japanese net loft are disappearing.

When you look above, we look below. High tides always a concern. First Nations Net loft was barged here once upon a time. Looks ready for another trip.

Visitors map at North Pacific visitor centre. Glad to have kept the many pins marking our 10k visitors. It was kept intact to remind us of a spectacular season, and some motivation to keep our museum alive for all to enjoy in 2022. Go ahead zoom in, the world came to us.

It’s a difficult and quiet day on this May 1st 2021 without you all. Missing our visitors and our dedicated staff and volunteers. Some photo memories to console.

Getting our bunkhouse ready for 2022. New aka old / heritage decor, where you can relax in the common meeting room and read a 1960s National Geographic.. or have a hand at manual typing. Missing our guests this season, but always in our thoughts.

As a young child growing up at Sunnyside, I had few playmates. Most Japanese who lived at the cannery year-round were older with grown children. Thus, I grew up surrounded by a community of grandparents. This man was one of my surrogate grandfathers. I often visited Mr. and Mrs. Yoshida. Ryuichi Yoshida emigrated to Canada in 1910 and made a living in both the fishing and logging industries in British Columbia. He worked hard in both industries to get the Japaneses into the u...nions. After WWII, interment, and relocation, he returned to B.C. and went fishing for B.C. Packers at Sunnyside. Already 65 years old, he fished for nine years, then retired to New Denver to be near their only daughter. Mona Izumi Board Member / Port Edward Historical Society

Taylor Bachrach MP graciously accepted an invitation to visit the North Pacific. It was a pleasure and an honour to host him and we appreciate his taking some time from his busy schedule while in Prince Rupert. NPC remains closed to the public for the 2020 tourism season.

Just south of Prince Rupert in Northern British Columbia, you'll find the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site, the oldest remaining salmon cannery on t...he west coast of North America. Take a virtual visit of inside the site through this 360-degree image. While adventures in BC beckon, now is not the time to travel outside of your community. If you’re a BC resident, stay close to home and follow the latest health recommendations. If you’re from outside of BC, we look forward to welcoming you when the time is right. Looking for any pictures that would have been taken of this old gillnetter called " MV Twin Falls " This boat was donated to NPC in the late 90s and was situated in the parking area of NPC. Please share to [email protected]

What a moving share of an era that we take such pride in sharing with our guests at NPC. Enjoy!
