COACHING MESSAGE update: We will be doing ONE more combined Criminal Record Check Session on Thursday from 6pm-7pm . Please use the Side Door at the Emera Centre. ... URGENT: To all coaches who require Criminal Background Checks but have not completed yet, please notify the association no later than Tuesday, November 17th at 5:00pm. A second round of checks may be held at the Emera Centre if required. Currently, CRCs are to be completed by appointment only at the Police Station on Grand Lake Road. Also, please ensure to complete your required certifications as December 1st is coming fast. If you are unsure as to what you require, please contact Claude Goora as soon as possible. HU-Planning a Safe Return is required by all coaches new and old.

We have added additional information surrounding the collection of our tickets for our First Tickets Draw 1. Please come to the Minor Hockey Door on the side parking lot 2. We will be collecting from 4-5pm any players with Last Names Beginning A-L. 5-6pm any players with Last Names M-Z. This is in an effort to eliminate long lines and extended wait times ... 3. Please have your tickets already separated and placed in a baggie with the players name attached. The Money must be in separate baggie 4. At all times you must follow social distancing protocols, A mask is mandatory to enter the building 5. If you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms you must not enter the building.

More Great News! As promised, another update from the HNS meetings. Last night it has been confirmed that we will now be permitted to play games in other associations. This means as we move closer to "normal" hockey there will still be a few things that we will continue to push toward. So, let me lay out the look of the On Ice.... we will be permitted to allow 50 people to participate in the competition with no physical distancing. What will that look like? Two teams, C...oaches and Bench staff, The Officials & timekeepers. Volunteers. Anyone that would be required to have a game. So this is GREAT NEWS! I know the next part of the question for many of you is surround spectators. We are very fortunate that we have Facilities that are trying to work with us to allow some spectators as many rinks across the province simply can't accommodate that request. Hockey Nova Scotia and Public Health are instructing us to work in close cooperation with our Facilities and we must adhere to the regulations our Facilities will set for us to run our Hockey Program. We ALL recognize that being able to watch our children, grandchildren etc. is part of our game and together we will be working hard to make this a reality. We are asking that you have patients through these unprecedented times and help us here on the Northside moved toward that goal. At present we have committed to allowing 1 parent or guardian ( does not have to be the same person each time) to come to the rink with your player. There will be Strict Protocol's to follow with regard to entering and exiting and of course requirements to wear masks at all times and adhere to social distancing. After the sudden and abrupt ending to last season this is Welcoming News. If we all work together we can make this "New look" to our game manageable with the hope that things will open up quickly!

Your children have all be placed on teams and that's where all communication will flow. Invoices, schedules etc. However it can't work correctly if you do not download the app. If you have not received the invite to join please notify the office at [email protected] with your correct email and we will check that out Invoices are going out everyday. U-7 & U-9 have all gone out and many have already paid via e-transfer so thank you! The rest of the invoices are being processed and you should see them in a few days.

Great News! We Wanted to fill you in on the latest. In case you missed it earlier today, the provincial government announced some positive changes to participant numbers in sport that will take effect on Oct. 1. Hockey Nova Scotia are still working with Sport Nova Scotia and Communities, Culture and Heritage to clarify some of the details regarding spectators. We have a meeting with HNS on Tuesday to discuss this announcement and how it will advance us forward with our Re...bound Plan. We will keep you informed with the up to date information. Well the Rumor is true... We are getting ready to Welcome back all of our excited Hockey Players! Stay tuned for Registration Information! New Players will Register by appointment Only! We are working on a safe Rebound Plan following Public Health Regulation that will still provide a Structured Development Format with some Fun 4 on 4 games! AGM Meeting We have been given permission from HNS to host our AGM while following the Public Health Guidelines. We will be capped at 50 social distanced members. The Meeting will be held at the Emera Centre on Sept 1st at 6:30pm. We are asking that you submit your name if you plan to attend to [email protected] no later than August 21st. Once you have been notified that you are eligible to attend, we will ask you to confirm your attendance by August 26th so that... we could draw from the waitlist if necessary. If there are any changes to the By-laws or Constitution, they can be submitted by members 14 days prior to the AGM. Anyone wishing to submit a nomination of a member to the Board of Directors you can do so in writing 10 days prior to the meeting. After the nomination is confirmed eligible in accordance with the By-laws they will be notified of the nomination and asked if they would like their name to stand for consideration. Please note that nominations can also come from the floor on the night of the AGM. If you have any questions please send them to [email protected]

Information Update: We have posted on our webpage at nsdmh.ca an updated Rebound Plan Guideline! We encourage all members to go there and read the detailed plan as outlined by Hockey Nova Scotia under the direction of Public Health for our Province. We all recognize that Hockey will look different at the beginning of the season as we adjust to the new Covid-19 protocols , but as Public Health increases the numbers we will slowly move closer towards the second and third pe...riods of the outlined plan. Please familiarize yourselves with the assessment tools that our team safety person will be required to complete before all ice sessions. It will be strictly adhered to so that we can all rest assured that all measures to keep everyone healthy are being followed. In the coming days we will be asking you to complete a quick short survey to address your questions and concerns and provide feedback so we can better prepare for upcoming registration.

Hey Everyone! Hockey Nova Scotia has outlined a rebound plan that will align itself with Public Health Guidlines. As we’re all aware recommendations change quickly and we will be ready to jump from Period 2 to 3 as soon as the guidelines allow! COACHING REQUIREMENTS The Re-checks for Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector requirements will be done collectively at the Emera Centre on Thursday October 29th between the hours of 6:00pm - 7:30pm in the Minor Hockey Office. This is for New Coaches and Expired Checks. We will have a representative from the Policing Office here to complete these checks. If you cannot make it then you must make an appointment at the Police Station in Sydney to get it completed. Also! if you do not require any checks this year we want to make you aware that ALL COACHES are still required to take the Safe Return to Hockey Course. Claude Goora is our Certification Coordinator and he will be in touch with other coaching requirements and Deadlines to have them completed.

Ticket Drop Off for today October 18th has been tweaked again in an effort to make things run smooth. Drop Off will be from 4pm- 6pm for ALL Members, We have removed the Last Name time slots. So come at any time between 4pm -6pm. You will enter through the Front Doors at the Emera Centre and Keep to the Right and make your way to the Scotia Bank Room. You will then Exit through the Minor Hockey Door at the Side of the Building. Please Remember to Remove Staples and that No Labels are permitted by Lottery Rules.

Tonight is an exciting night for our First time Hockey Players.... We are excited and waiting to meet you at our Front Doors where Everyone will do the Covid Screening. Come to the rink dressed if possible..... We will have your Socks and Jersey's to hand out , however if have dressed your players at home with other socks and Jerseys that's fine! you will have the new set for the next ice time. Everyone will come in at the front entrance, and Exit at the Side Door a...t the back staircase from the Walking Track. Don't worry we will guide you along and have the Coaches meet you with your players at the Exit. For those asking! Yes it is on ice tonight and full gear is required! We will also have someone there to pass out the tickets for those who didn't get them yet. With the new Covid rules a typical time to arrive would be 20 mins before the assigned Ice time, However because we have a few other items to take care of you may start arriving at 4:15pm. Hi folks, Because its Thanksgiving weekend we have arranged a "unverified" drop off for anyone who cant make the assigned time for tickets. time from 1pm -3:00pm at the Emera Front Doors This means that we will take your tickets but they will not be verified until the ticket draw is set up. If there are any differences between money and tickets we will let you know. There will not be any tickets given back at this time so if you do not have tickets for next year you would... have to arrange for pickup through the week. Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

I would like to thank the volunteers now that are giving up their Thanksgiving Dinner to be at the Emera Center to collect the 50/50 tickets for the draw this week. Update: As we're working our way through the first week of on ice group skates we want to remind you of a few things we are noticing that will speed up the process as you check in to do your safety screening. 1. U-13 (peewee) and down please come to the rink fully dressed. 2. The facility rules only allow us to enter 20 minutes before Ice ... times and 15 minutes to exit the building 3. U-11 (atom) U-9 & U-7 (novice) will be paired up with the parents at the Exits. We will bring the players to you!!! Please remember that the only entrance is in the main Lobby and that you will be exiting at a different location. 4. No parents are permitted in the dressing rooms or the players corridor, we have assigned area's for those who need assistance with gear adjustments and tying skates. 5. Two guardians are permitted to be in the rink but must follow the rink assigned seating areas. This is a new experience for us all and the process will become seamless the more we do it. Next week we will begin evaluations & tryouts for U-11 , U-13, U-15, U-18, the groups that you are in now will change . We will NOT be posting these groups until Sunday so that we do not confuse players with having two groups listed on the website. The schedule for the Evaluations will be posted on Sunday as well. The U-9 and U-7 groups will have some Ice scheduled at the end of the week so watch the schedule for those times Once again thank you for your patients, Don't forget the Ticket Draw on Sunday , same instructions as last week A-L at 4pm and M-Z at 5pm .
