Today is Green Shirt Day! Today, we wear green to remember the Humboldt Bus tragedy and in honour of the Logan Boulet Effect. Please take a minute today to post a picture of you and/or your family wearing green and tag North Toronto on Instagram or send in a DM with your photo. We want to fill our feed and story with pictures to show our support and create awareness for this important cause!... Green Shirt Day is in honour of the Logan Boulet Effect, in support of organ donor awareness and registration across Canada. On April 6, 2018, Canadians were heartbroken to hear the news of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. Of the 29 passengers, sixteen lost their lives and thirteen will all bear physical and emotional scars for life. On April 7, 2018, Humboldt Broncos defenceman, Logan Boulet succumbed to his injuries, his parents, Bernadine and Toby Boulet offered to donate his organs so that six lives could live on. They did so, because Logan told his parents, he was registering as an organ donor, and that he was inspired by his coach and mentor Ric Suggitt. Ric passed on June 27th, 2017 and was also an organ donor and saved 6 lives. What happened following this selfless act, is nothing less than miraculous and became known across Canada as the Logan Boulet Effect. As news spread of the organ donation, by this young hockey player, over 100,000 people registered to become organ donors in the days and weeks that followed. To date this is the largest number of Canadians registering to become organ donors in Canadian History due to one event one person. To register as an organ donor and for more information on Green Shirt Day, please visit: www.greenshirtday.ca @greenshirtday #GreenShirtDay #LoganBouletEffect #HumboldtStrong #HumboldtBroncos #BeInspired #iplayintheg #NTHOCKEY

As today marks the 2nd anniversary, we join hockey communities across Canada in remembering the players and personnel of the Humboldt Broncos who lost their lives and were injured in the tragic bus accident 2 years ago today. The Humboldt community remains in our thoughts as we reflect upon all of the lives that have been forever changed. #HumboldtStrong #HumboldtBroncos #weareallhumboldt #remember #LoganBouletEffect #humboldt #canada #cometogether @sjhlbroncos

With the crushing economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis on our city’s most vulnerable families, the need for Food Banks is escalating dramatically while the opportunities for physical donations dwindle. We are challenging our community to consider if you are able a financial contribution of any size to the Daily Bread Food Bank. VISIT: www.nthockey.ca for a link to the NT Fights Hunger donation page. ... PLUS, until March 31 all donations will be matched by the Sprott Foundation so your contribution will go twice as far! Stay well and thank you for your consideration and support @dailybreadto @gthlhockey #dailybreadfoodbank #covid_19 #givingback #letshelp #weareinthistogether #letsdothis #iplayintheg #NTHOCKEY
UPDATE: With the rapidly evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, we have made a couple of adjustments to our Green Shirt Day Initiative. We will now be closing website ordering as of this Friday March 20th at 10am, the factories are now operating at skeleton staff and reduced hours, so we want to ensure that the shirts get into production before any further changes occur. In addition, North Toronto Arena is now closed due to COVID-19, so all pick ups will be at Majer Hockey,... or you can opt to have the shirts delivered directly to you. With all of the negative things happening around the globe right now, this is our opportunity to do something good. Lets rally together and support this important cause! Go to www.nthockey.ca and ORDER YOUR SHIRT TODAY. Lets do this together!! Big thank you to @majerhockey for their support with this initiative and help navigating some of these challenging obstacles.
