We posted this 50 weeks ago, so I think it's time for a repost. The description below is out of date. Blue and Grey box sorting begins with new trucks November 30th. If you need additional bins they are available at all Community Recycling Centres for $6 ea.

Due to some snow and ice covered roads, garbage and recycling will not be collected on the following roads: 11th Line East of County Rd 50 to Healey Falls Canal Road Mack Trail ... Top of Dewey Road Cedar Hill down to Whispering Water Crowe River area not plowed - Silver Heights Rd. - Baxter Rd. - Coyle Rd. - 5th Line - Clarke Rd. If you live in these areas, please bring your garbage and recycling in and set out for next week.

Just because it's plastic, doesn't mean its accepted in the blue box program. What we accept is household plastic bottles, jugs and containers, and a dedicated bag of soft plastic bags. This is stamped on the blue box, and in your brochures that were delivered with your bins. If the plastic item you're hoping to recycle is not a household bottle, jug, container, or a soft plastic bag...it's most likely, just garbage. If you're ever unsure use our What Goes Where tool or send a message.

We’ve done a lot of work at our Community Recycling Centres this past year, and more improvements are on the way, including updated signage.

A paintball gun is not paper, nor a household food and beverage container. Please keep these items out of the recycling. They are garbage.

A friendly reminder that all green bin waste must be bagged in certified compostable bags, and that old pills are NOT ACCEPTED. Old medications are considered household hazardous waste. They can also go back to the pharmacy for proper disposal http://healthsteward.ca/returning-medications/

According to our new online Recycle Right game - which is awesome you should play - the most misunderstood item is the takeout cup. The takeout cup, rinsed, without lid or staw, can go in the blue box. The lid and straw is garbage. Play the game here: https://northumberlandon.recycle.game/

What’s the deal with egg cartons? Paper egg cartons is the most searched for item in our What Goes Where tool. So which bin do they go in? If they’re clean, they go in the grey box.... If they’re soiled with broken egg, they go in the green bin.

Did you miss the truck, and that's somethin you don't ever want to do again? It doesn't matter when your driver normally comes by to collect your garbage, recycling, or green bin. The set out time for collection, since 1996, has been 7AM. If it's before 7AM, call us. 1-866-293-8379.
