Meet Chris Montgomery Chris’ The Glasshopper Studio, specializes in commissions, restorations and custom work, in stained and etched glass. Her frequent decisio...n to incorporate found objects and whimsical accents continues to make her work exciting, fresh and interpretive of classical design. Frequently her glasswork skills overlap into her jewelry designs. Chris works primarily in silver and copper. She incorporates exotic and rare beads, pearls and various gems collected on her world travels into her individual pieces of bespoke jewelry. This 20 x 20 painting is ready to go whenever you are.

This series of paintings is challenging for me in many ways. My photo references, with their subtle colouring and reflections, the hints of stuff going on under...neath, make my head spin. It’s not easy to know where to start or how to proceed. That’s OK because I rarely shy away from a challenge but still, it is difficult. As always, more coats of paint than you can shake a stick at are needed to provide the richness and depth of colour that I want but the layering of the different elements is difficult to do correctly and if not done properly, can cause the whole thing to tank. Strangely, this doesn’t cause me to quake in my boots. Apparently I’ve become a courageous artist. See more
