Dr. Henry just announced the extension of the restrictions that currently apply to the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions 1) to the entire provi...nce and 2) until December 7. There is no travel order in place, but British Columbians are asked to stay within their own health region and avoid non-essential (i.e. recreational or social) travel to any other region. Essential travel means for work or medical appointments. For TCM and acupuncture practitioners in most of the province, this will not likely affect your patients. However, in the Lower Mainland there may be some confusion over whether it is ok for patients to move between Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health the short answer is yes, they can. An acupuncture or TCM treatment is a medical appointment. Masks are now mandatory in all indoor public spaces for TCM and acupuncture practices, this means any common areas of your clinic/treatment space and buildings. The exception for those who are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons still applies. Revisit your health and safety plan and make sure it’s working! As Dr. Henry said, don’t slip up now case numbers need to come down, and inspections of workplaces are going up. We are pros at infection control - make sure you are implementing enhanced procedures, completing daily screening of all clinic/treatment space staff and visitors and following mandatory mask orders. Follow the guidance that we detailed in our Recommended Safe Work Practices document in May.
