Happy Friday! Swim Docks - After much discussion we have put the swim docks in the water, at the Pier. We are looking for several volunteers to help us keep the ladders that lead to the docks clean. If you'd like to help keep this area clean and as safe as possible, please drop us a note. We hope you enjoy them, and practice safe social distancing while using them. Membership Renewal - We are pleased that despite the lack of programming this year, because of Covid, ...over 51% of members have renewed their membership for 2020. It's never too late to renew or make a donation. Please visit www.nbma.ca if you haven't yet. Your support will help us continue to offer programming and events in 2021. Enjoy the Summer, The NBMA Executive

Dear NBMA Members, After an incredible amount of discussion over the past eight weeks, we have decided to cancel all programming and social events for the Summer of 2020. The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic makes it impossible for us to offer safe programming for our members. We discussed and debated, and we tried to create plans despite COVID-19. In the end, we felt the few programs we could provide given government regulations would be limited and not particular...ly fun. Most importantly, it was felt that the risk to the children, staff, and community was too great. This is a gut wrenching decision for this board, but we unanimously agreed that this is the right decision. We wish you a safe and happy summer and we look forward to seeing you at the Bay. The board of the NBMA

Dear NBMA members, This morning you received an email from the NBMA announcing membership renewals for the 2020 summer season. As we stated two weeks ago, we remain uncertain about the summer season. We are still waiting for clear direction from the government of Quebec, and local authorities.... Membership Renewals and Donations - Despite this uncertainty, we encourage you to renew your membership or make a donation. Even in the darkest scenario for this summer, the NBMA still has many expenses to pay regardless of our situation, such as: property tax, building and liability insurance, Red Cross fees, batteries for defibrillators, etc. etc. We are hoping to buy two new spinal boards for our lifeguards and rescue teams, and also swim buoys to two circle the Aqua Fit area at the pier. For those of you who might be in a position to help us out during these unprecedented times we would very much appreciate you continuing to renew your membership and donations for this fiscal year. Payments can be made online, or by mail to NBMA, PO Box 653, Shawville, QC J0X 2Y0, or if you prefer, by dropping them off with the Treasurer at 34 River Road. We are still considering pushing the beginning of the summer season and events back to the week of July 20th. We are also considering plans for a shortened season (4 weeks rather than 6). As so much remains uncertain, it is very difficult for us to give you a detailed plan for the coming summer at this point. Nevertheless, we must continue to plan, hire staff and get ready for the summer, and attempt to adapt to whatever situation is thrown at us. Please understand that most of this is completely out of our control. We can really only react and plan according to what the government allows. The NBMA Board of Directors continues to monitor the situation and we are meeting to discuss contingency plans every week by phone. Stay tuned... Please stay safe, and practice social distance. Thank you, Liam McGahern

The Province of Quebec has issued a ministerial Order today, April 1st, which will restrict access to the Outaouais region; which includes the MRC Pontiac and A...LL its Municipalities. There will be temporary controlled access at all inter-provincial bridges and some main highways and travel will only be permitted to the following: - Persons returning to their principal residence; - Persons whose work or profession is listed as ‘essential’ activities; - Persons travelling for humanitarian reasons; - Persons whose travel is to obtain care or services for their health; - Other as listed (transportation services, legal services, etc.) ANY person returning to their principal residence must self-isolate for 14 days upon their return; except for those as listed above; Documentation may be requested to prove any of the above reasons for travel.

Dear NBMA Members, When the Board of Directors began discussing plans for the 2020 summer season in January, we were very excited to be planning new social events and activities for this coming summer. Our biggest fear was a repeat of the 2019 flood. We were all hoping for a long slow thaw this spring. The situation has changed dramatically as you know. COVID-19 is a now serious public health threat and both the federal and provincial governments have developed extensive poli...cies to curb the spread. As a result of these policies, the NBMA Board of Directors is currently considering pushing the beginning of the summer season and events back to the week of July 20th. We are also considering plans for a shortened season (4 weeks rather than 6). I realize this may disappoint many children and adults alike but these are unusual times.
