The brand new MINI John Cooper Works GP3 was launched 9 hours ago! Shmarc150 was able to have a closer look at the car before the reveal and in this 26-minute v...ideo he gives you his insights and thoughts on how his GP3 would look like! We know none of his cars stay stock, so let's see what his thoughts are... Marc's initial thoughts after a day with the car are: "Let's give you a short summary of my thoughts after a walkaround, talks and a ride. As a basic package, the GP3 is a great next step in the line of the GP1 and GP2. It is able to grasp that GP momentum that you expect from a GP model every 6 years. The GP3 is a great package, but not one that is without any flaws. From a design point of view it is a bit of a mismash between different design ideas taken from the GP Concept, the current JCW and additions that feel like they have a cost-saving flavor over them. Not an uncommon thing with manufacturers these days and not a bad thing either, but something you as an enthusiast have to taken notice off before you look at the car. Personally, I don't think the arches are a great looking design feature, nor the exhaust tail pipes that feel a bit misplaced. I know why it was done, but it still doesn't make really smile. Personally I feel the car needs to be lowered a notch. I would also wrap the roof and mirrors red. It is a touch more aggressiveness. The technical set up is strong with room for improvements if you feel the need to go down that route. An adjustable coil-over suspension is a must for a car like this and the mechanical differential felt good but not great after an initial track session in the passenger seat. An aftermarket upgrade will definitely offer you improved cornerning and handling capabilities. Other than this, the exhaust needs an OPF delete and you want an open air intake for more engine drama. The interior offers a lot black, but is nice. The highlight is the absence of a sport button in a hot hatch! No adjustability at all, which is intriguing for a sports car build under the BMW wing. There is only the GP mode, which is nothing other than a specifically tuned version of MDM mode for MINIs. All in all, the technical upgrades are all possible via aftermarket parts, but don't come stock from factory and that makes this car and its great base package a slight touch "soleless" for a MINI. I would therefore tune it to become more alive. Luckily the package offers a great basis for this and there will be enough options within the aftermarket world that help you out."
