Meet Ed! Collingwood's new innovative electric street/sidewalk vacuum cleaner, dedicated to the late Ed Christie, a founding member the Collingwood Downtown BIA... who spent time ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the Business Improvement Area. To those who knew him, he would often be heard saying that the municipality did a great job cleaning our downtown, but it was the BIA’s responsibility to ‘get in the corners’. The ceremony held on Oct 28 officially named this new cleaner the ‘Ed’ in recognition and honour of Ed Christie’s contributions to the BIA. It will ensure that the BIA continues to ‘get in the corners’ so our historic downtown is kept beautiful, clean and vibrant. On hand to celebrate Ed's legacy were his children - Mike Christie and Dana denBok, his brothers Dave and George Christie, as well as Councillor Bob Madigan, BIA Chair Dave Conning, BIA Board members Penny Skelton and Paul Feather and BIA General Manager Susan Nicholson.
