This bed of chickweed is my five star hotel, I feel calm and spoiled by the stillness that surrounds me as I just lay there and reflect on all the changes and challenges a year can bring to so many. I can say I am so grateful being a farmer as this year I realized that farming has enlightened me in so many ways, most importantly is that I learned that nature has been my great teacher, my school. It has taught me so many life lessons such as to try be patient and resilien...t, it takes me out of my comfort zone, it allows me to just breathe, it helps nourish my body, it makes me feel wealthy not by money but in imagination, it shows me imperfection is perfect and uncertainty is ok. Nature doesn’t complain, judge or make a rainy day appear bad....it just is...and that just makes me smile!!! So as a very different year for so many is going to pass by, I hope that everyone has the ability to lay in whatever their own patch of chickweed may be and find gratitude for all of life’s lessons in this year they have been given and continue smiling.... A red beauty graced us with her presence....and I couldn’t resist...all gone!!! New lovely chicken ladies joined our flock, interesting to say the least! Going into our second week of our box program. Our farmily crew are awesome!! We are surrounded by majestic creatures all day long!! We still make time to get out and enjoy the beauty this island offers us, and also some time to spend with our furry babies. Some of us on the farm get away with being sleepy and lazy...so it’s a good thing most of us keep the farm hopping around here to get food to your bellies!!. Quick update, our farm stand is now open Friday’s 10am-5pm, this Friday we will have many starters outside the store for sale! And there are still a few spots available for the box program, information is on our website:). Happppy Wednesday everyone!!

Oh boy!!! The sun comes out and not only are the veggies and flowers loving it so are we!!! Sometimes a little extra break at the beach does a farmily good, not to mention we let Lorne take the day fishing....work-life balance, gotta have it

So much gratitude I have for these three beautiful smiling faces....a farm is just a farm but when you have a farmily with such great energy it makes things so much more awesome!!! The food tastes great and the veggies are so much happier feeling those smiley faces!! Cheers to our crew and all the other hard working farm workers out there!!!!

Feels like a Caesar salad weekend, romaine lettuce in the store and market this weekend...and everything else is coming on strong woo hoo!! cucumbers doing there thing, strawberries making my mouth water just waiting, zucchinis tiny now...huge soon enough! Tomatoes loving their compost tea shower this week, lettuce looking beautiful, our boxes for the box program arrived and our chicken ladies happily finishing off the left overs from last week! Farm life is awesome!!!. Our farm store will be open tomorrow and Monday 10am-5pm or hope to see you at the @qbfarmersmarket on Saturday!!! Enjoy this beauty evening and sunshine tomorrow!!

Our farm stand is now open Fridays from 1pm-5pm....starting today!!! Well have veggie starters, mixed greens, nutritional dense mix, bok Choy, pea shoots and spinach and eggs! And some all purpose fertilizer bags for all your garden needs!! IT IS HAPPENING!!!! Due to popular demand we figured we need to offer what everyone seems to keep asking about, a box program!!! Nope, it doesnt include our cute barn cat but it will include fresh, healthy and delicious veggies and strawberries!!! (when in season). Another beautiful day on the farm, and it is once again go time....tomatoes transplanted and hiding behind the nutrient dense, Bok Choy and mixed greens ready to be harvested this week, radishes showing some color and a new welcome addition to our farm.....strawberries!!!! Happy Tuesday!!!

Now arent you a breath of fresh air...welcome back friend!!!We like to keep some veggies that go to seed and flower early so these lovelys have something to eat!! Everyone needs a helping hand here and there. We are busy harvesting for our drive through pick up this Saturday at the farm! We have sent this email out to all our subscribers and wanted to make sure we post it here too in case someone has missed subscribing, however we will try not giving updates on social media platforms as they can be lengthy reads...but if you are interested, here we go..... Firstly we would like to thank all of you for your interest in supporting us and local agriculture! Just a quick recap as we have had so many new subscribers since our last email, there will be more volu...me and diversity of vegetables coming every week as the season has just begun. Also, we will not continue to update these messages via social media, therefore if you are interested please subscribe to our emailing list and share this with those you may think are interested. -New online webstore, www.nourishfarm.ca (keep in mind we arent techie's:) -Here is how we think this needs to work: We are asking at this time that all orders be a minimum of $15.00 purchase 1) Shop for what you want and place your order within the online store 2) Choose payment options, cash, debit/credit or paypal. - if paying with cash, please have exact amount in a clear bag with your order number visible - e-transfer, use cash payment option to complete your order and quote your order number in the message 3) Orders must be picked up on Saturday between 9am-12pm, sorry no exceptions 4) Pickups at the farm, 445 Larkdowne Road, Qualicum (very last driveway on the left) This will be a drive through experience, drive up to the barn and stop by our tent, give us your order number, we'll confirm payment and give you your bag of yumminess! You will then be directed to exit out our other driveway. 5) Harvesting will be completed by Thursday with inventory updated that evening. We anticipate weekly box orders to be able to be placed in the coming weeks as our volume and inventories increase while allowing us time to organize all these new systems. If the farmers market is able to get up and running on Saturdays, we will also be attending that market and updating any changes. Eg. pick up days, times, locations.... The farm stand is closed for the time being, as things progress we may be opening it and you will be notified. SAFETY: As we will be wearing our farm attire including our new mask and gloves, please feel free to join us in the dress code. We ask everyone to remain in your vehicles as we will bring your items to you, and please respect the fact that there is either more customers coming to pick up their purchases or we have oodles of chores needing attending to so we will not be able to have a chin wag at this time and we really need everyone to just keep this whole system flowing for the efficiency of our farm:) Again, thank you for your patience and at this time due to our very busy work days we are unable to respond to all the email inquiries and rest assured we will just keep you updated. Even though we are farmers and have been for 9 years, this poem makes me reflect on what we ourselves have learned over the years. We once never shopped at farmers markets, we used to eat from a box and a can and we never valued or thought about what we were eating other than to just feel full and never once thought about the fact that if we didn't have farmers we didn't have food. We came into farming at a time when food was " a thing" and people started to become awa...re of the health benefits however we still found many struggles along the way trying to get people to understand what local agriculture means. So when I think about all our fellow farm friends or other farmers that have been doing this long before us, who struggled to create farmers markets and sell food and who continued year after year in spite of it all.....our hat goes off to them!! Our gratitude today goes out to all farmers from all time around the world, to all farm workers who also make it happen and for being able to learn and get advise from our wise farmer friends!! As the days go on here on the farm it doesn't feel much different to us, we are used to this isolation as we are busy getting the farm up and going. However, the difference we are finding is that there are so many people in the last couple of weeks inquiring about the food we grow and how and when we will be selling it. Oh this lovely sun, the smell of spring in the air, the sound of the birds, the veggies growing like crazy just makes me smile!!!. We are anxiously waiting to get these yummy veggies into your bellies and some of our starters into your gardens!!! And I figured it was a great time to share my homemade rainbow with everyone, all ya need is the sun and a bit of water....and a smile to enjoy it

Unfortunate to say the least. BUT we are definitely not alone as sadly so many of our local businesses are affected and have already had to close doors. We ourselves never got into farming thinking there would be no challenges or hurdles to jump over. Then once we figured out some of them, new ones can about, maybe it was the weather, pests, diseases...the list goes on! SO, here comes another one that we too will get over and figure out!. Our community needs healthy food... at this time more then ever and Im sure our town may think differently if food one day wasnt able to fly here to our island not to mention our community to fill our grocery stores!! So for now we will take this challenge and conquer it too!! Right now we will make sure our farm stand is open as soon as things become ready. (hopefully March 28th) We will brainstorm and come up with ideas of how to work with fellow vendors on ways to have a box pick up or delivery. Farm life just wouldnt be the same without all our furry/feathery family following us around! Cant even blame the cats for sleeping on all the veggie starters when they are oh so cute and the starter bed is oh warm!!

Welcome back beautiful flowers, warmth from the sun on our skin, hard work rewarded with beer, germination greenhouse, and the excitement of watching all our seeds pop up for another awesome season!!! . Woo hoo!!!

We are hard at work getting our starter greenhouse up, its crunch time to get it up to start seeding shortly, so exciting!!! My oh so familiar wheelbarrow awaits me the last few days as my pile doesnt seem to be getting smaller....but I am still thankful to stare at this mound of gravel and not a computer screen Although I wouldnt mind a bobcat at this moment

We are hiring again!!! . We truly have been so fortunate to have such amazing farm hands working for us the last few years. We learn so much from them and our farm benefits from their great energy!! Now ita time to find more awesome individuals to join us for the 2020 season!! Is anyone needing fresh eggs or the last of some fresh veggies??? Our chicken ladies arent taking a break so what the heck why should we and its time for us to amend our greenhouse so whatever we didnt harvest for the last market needs to come out. We are opening our farm store this Saturday from 8:30am-5pm so after you hit the @qbfarmersmarket for its 1st opening of the year come on by the farm store. We will have mixed greens, small romaine, beets and potatoes and lots of EGGS!!

Unfortunately it is true....our farm stand will be closing tomorrow:( At this time of the year, we are unable to stock the farm stand with all the goodies you should deserve when you make an effort to stop at our farm. BUT please come see us at the Qualicum beach farmers market every Saturday until December 21, 2019 for fresh veggies and eggs! The farm stand will reopen next year and our wheels are turning on ways to make it betterThank you to all that supported our lil' farm stand!!!

WHAT!!!??? Once again we have left the beaten path and are rewarded with another great experience in our lives. 7 months ago this is how it went, we scrambled to take down our veggie starter house, landscape that area, train our farm family crew, run our farm, finish building the barn, farm store and accommodation etc. And WOW an amazing first year hosting our rental suites with wonderful guests from all over. Never did we ever think we would be farmers, nor invite strangers from all over the world to our home......BUT I guess winging it just works for us as we now have an amazing community that supports what we do, we get to meet so many great people from all over the world and no longer call them strangers. Cheers to them, our farmily, us for being us, and friends that graciously helped along the way

Fall update....chicken ladies are still happy getting their fill on all the extras we bring home, sheep cant stop filling their faces with all the leaves and they also think they may be a dog but solstice isnt quite ready to share her bed Im anxiously waiting to see if these Brussel beauties with get big soon but still excited to harvest our diners without them yetAnd Lorne and I now have time to enjoy the amazing colors Mother Nature is giving us right now, doing some exploring and fishing! Another day to be thankful

First frost of the season!

We all need a little throwback to summer around here....we have learned that every beautiful day cant be spent working on our farm so we took a road trip and spent some farmily time with the crew fishing, relaxing and soaking up some end of the season sunshine last month at such a beauty of a lake!! We miss you summer!!!

Before and After...going back in time when we first started farming in 2012 our farm name was Oasis Aquaponics, this was our booth at the farmers market, and our veggies in the greenhouse. We could barely fill those little baskets but we were excited beginner farmers!! We thought we were rocking it, until everything basically died because we hadn't a clue about growing food, so instead we went fishing BUT we tried again and this is us now, Nour-ish Farm, we just needed a little change, determination and extra hard work along with a lot of patience, love, gratitude and wonderful farm crews that help us along

Now open SATURDAYs!!! Thanks to everyone that supports their local farmers and shops at the farmers markets or small farm stands, your support allows us and fellow farmers to keep on growing amazing food for you!!!

The chicken tractor is on the move but I dont think the chickens were convinced they had to go too. It was a chicken round up last night, they are all safe and sound and nobody got pooped on
