Writing this post isn’t exactly an easy one, however, I want to be open and honest about some of the thoughts that have crossed my mind since being pregnant. Before I get too far into this I want to address the fact that yes,I know I am nourishing my baby & I, yet, I still can’t ignore some of the feelings and emotions that come with pregnancy and the weight gain associated. After years of struggling with an eating disorder something that caused me anxiety was the thought ...of gaining weight during pregnancy, this was at the back of my mind long before I became pregnant. Of course weight gain can be a difficult thing for anyone to experience, even if you have an actual reason for it (like having a baby!). I think for me, what I have struggled with the most is that it is entirely out of my control the physical changes I can see are just happening and I cannot do anything about them, that is a foreign concept to me. While I can say that I am no longer in a place where an eating disorder controls my life, nor am I suffering from disordered eating patterns, I do recognize that this weight gain has made me feel very uneasy at times. It really just depends on the day, some times it affects me more than others and other times I am able to see the good in it and rationalize to myself why it is in fact a good thing. Because of my eating disorder history, I have not had a relationship with a scale for a few years now, but I have peaked at the number when I am at the doctors office (against my better judgement). I really had to ask myself why the number really even matters if I am feeling good? The truth is, it really doesn’t, deep down I do know that. Weight gain is what is needed for my body to nourish the baby. Though, I still feel out of control at times when I see and can feel the physical changes my body is going through. I acknowledge the fact that by experiencing these thoughts and feelings it does not make me a bad person or a bad mama to be, nor does it make anyone else who feels the same way a bad person either. My first time ever making scones, I think they turned out perfectly! A very easy and simple recipe to make for a Valentines Day breakfast, or a little afternoon treat! Or just for any time really This recipe for strawberry scones was adapted from @somethewiser Changes: -Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free Baking Flour 1-1 -Kefir in place of the yogurt or sour cream... -More !!! About 1/2 a cup more, fresh -Omitted the sugar.... confession, I actually just forgot to add it...woops. Although if I went back now, I wouldn’t change a thing! -Made a sugar free lemon glaze to go on top! #nourishingnutrition__#strawberryscones#balance#holistichealth#glutenfree#glutenfreerecipes

Hi guys! It’s been awhile. This account took a bit of a backseat due to some things going on in my personal life. Between a house renovation and other exciting things I just needed a mental health break. I am back now! I have a recipe coming later this week that will be just perfect for Valentines . In the mean time, we have avocado egg salad on Silver Hills Bread, it’s my favourite store bought bread when we don’t have homemade sourdough (from my mom). Funny story, years a...go I sent Cameron with avocado egg salad (no mayo), he actually called me from work asking if the eggs were normal because it was green! lol. Here are the ingredients, I don’t really have measurements I just kind of eyeball it depending how much egg salad we want to have for the week sorta thing. No Mayo Avocado Egg Salad -hard boiled eggs -thinly sliced and chopped radish -fresh dill -finely chopped dill pickle (Yes!!! Sounds weird but it’s so good) -green onion -avocado -little bit Dijon mustard -salt and pepper to taste #nourishingnutrition__ #eggsalad #avocadoeggsalad#dairyfree#healthyeats#healthyeating

Pumpkin pie smoothie bowl! You wouldn’t even know I added some sneaky cauliflower to this . I am one of those people who loves a smoothie, every day, even in the dead of winter. My usual green smoothies aren’t that appealing to me right now, so I opted for something a little different. Recipe: 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk 1/2 cup pure pumpkin puree, frozen (adding to ice cube trays makes this easy)... 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower 1/2 frozen banana 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp pure vanilla 1/2 tsp cinnamon A couple ice cubes Dash of turmeric Optional: Collagen Protein powder Flax oil Blend until smooth and creamy. Add your favourite toppings! I opted for homemade granola, banana, pumpkin seeds and nut & seed butter. #nourishingnutrition__ #smoothiebowl #pumpkinpiesmoothiebowl #pumpkin #plantbased
