It's Success Saturday! That means it's time for another Success Story! This time you get to meet Dylan - an employee of the YMCA of Cape Breton and a dedicated committee member! If you're inspired by our success stories and want to know more about our services, send us a DM and we can give you more information or set you up with an appointment. And if you've been to the centres and want to share your Success Story get in touch! We'd love to feature you on our page so we can... share the inspiration. Onto the profile: What's your name? Dylan MacInnis What brought you to the YMCA of Cape Breton Nova Scotia Works? My partner had referred me to meet with their Case Manager. What services did you take part in? Employment Services; I met with a Case Manager and set the bar for whatever job I would take as pretty low, I went in suggesting to maybe get a START letter for a local coffee shop. However, my Case Manager encouraged me to find something more relevant to my skills and expertise and landed an interview the same day I met with her, after going to the Media/Marketing job interview I was given the job on the spot and told to come in to start working in a few weeks. A few days went by and my Case Manager contacted me to let me know about a Human Resources position I could apply to as well. Being a recent graduate from an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources, it only made sense to take up this offer. An interview was scheduled and after a few days, I got a call back to work a 1-year JCP contract with the YMCA. How did you feel about your experience? The Case Manager I met with at the New Waterford Nova Scotia Works site filled me up with confidence and provided me with two great job opportunities immediately after meeting with her. This was one of the best things to ever happen to me, ever. I have had success and have been unsuccessful with job searches in the past, but with the help of my Case Manager at NSW I was able to get a great job very quickly. Where are you now? It has almost been a year since I started working at the YMCA thanks to my Case Manager and the NSW JCP program. I have gained so much experience and really developed my skills as working as a Human Resources professional. Ironically, I now work to help out both the YMCA and it’s NSW locations in Cape Breton, and so I like to think that by the time I finish this contract that I will have left a positive impact on the organization that also helped me out so much. Any additional comments? I highly recommend that anyone in search of work try checking out their local Nova Scotia Works site. All our employees at these sites are super friendly and great at what they do. As the motto goes, sometimes it takes two people to find a job. #SuccessStories #Community #HealthyCommunities #HumanResources #YFamily #YMCANSWCB #NovaScotiaWorks
