SLEEP Part 2: If you do nothing else in 2021, improve your quality of sleep. # Lack of sleep does more than make you drowsy. Signs that you need more sleep; 1) Difficulty concentrating during the day. You may be drinking more caffeine to stay alert.... 2) You feel more stressed, emotionally exhausted, and angrier than normal. 3) It takes you longer than 30 minutes to fall asleep once you go to bed. 4) You feel hungrier than normal and are craving sugar. # Factors that affect sleep quality; 1) An irregular sleep schedule. Do your best to go to bed and wake up at the same time daily. 2) Limit Caffeine and Alcohol. It will not only affect your quality of sleep, but catapult you into a cycle of exhausted, over caffeinating to offset exhaustion, etc. 3) Blue light from cell phones, televisions and computers is perceived as sunlight by your brain tricking it into delayed sleep onset. Spend at least 30 minutes without these devices prior to going to bed. See more

Physical activity without sleep leaves you more vulnerable to injury and illness than if you didn’t exercise.... Didn’t sleep? Don’t exercise. # Chronic sleep deprivation impairs brain function and well is one of the leading predictors of long term health consequences. # Athletes especially need a minimum of 7-9 hours of sleep, consistently per night. Sleep is medicine. The best kind. # If you make only one change in 2021, make it a priority to get more sleep. See more
