Statement from the South Shore Tourism Cooperative (SSTC) Regarding 2021 Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl Festival (December 10, 2020) With the second wave of Covid-19 currently impacting Nova Scotia, and the likelihood that health and safety risks will remain high post-holiday season and throughout the winter months, the South Shore Tourism Cooperative has decided to press pause on the 2021 Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl Festival. What does pressing pause mean? All in-person festival... events and activities originally planned for February 1-28 will be suspended for 2021. It is possible that some of the festival’s elements will be moved to a virtual setting, but that will be determined in the coming months as organizers and local operators determine the best path forward. SSTC Board President Joanne Cooper, General Manager of the Best Western Bridgewater Hotel & Convention Centre, shares the thinking behind the board’s decision: As the unpredictable Covid-19 situation unfolds, we carefully weighed our responsibilities to the community, our South Shore operators and partners, and the mission of our organization, and ultimately decided that caution must rule the decision. While we would love nothing more than to support local economies and provide fun events and activities for consumers to enjoy this February, the health and safety risks are just too great. We must heed the public health guidance from the province for the 2021 festival and look forward to hosting the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl once again in 2022. See more

According to what traditionally is known as "The First Thanksgiving," the 1621 feast between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag at Plymouth Colony contained waterfowl, venison, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash. Happy Thanksgiving!
