Surgery is a common treatment for a rotator cuff tear (RCT), but it is often not the case that a rotator cuff tear requires surgery. The truth is that most people will eventually develop tears of the rotator cuff. As people age, RCT’s become increasingly common, even in people who never have symptoms of shoulder pain. Just as hair turns grey and skin wrinkles the rotator cuffs can develop wear and tear. Treatment of a torn rotator cuff varies depending on the type of injury... and the type of patient. Since a RCT often exists in people with no symptoms of a tear, treatment does not necessarily need to include repairing the torn tendon (surgery). The warm-up is a crucial component to performance for competition or training. It should slowly ramp up intensity to the level you are going to be training it, all the while being specific to the relevant movement patterns the goal you are trying to accomplish. Muscles work in co-operation and systems. They rarely work on their own, so why try to train them on their own? You just can’t isolate muscles the way you think you can muscles work in partnerships. Take a look at your own weight lifting routines and ask yourself if it contains the 6 key movement patterns. If not, then maybe it is time to re-think the way you are training. ...
