The team at NRB Inc. is excited to be a part of this modular supportive housing project planned for 150 Harrison Street in the City of Toronto.
Each night in Canada, 30,000 people find themselves homeless. These individuals are in desperate need of housing, but the need for affordable solutions goes even further to students, seniors, Indigenous communities and families who are simply priced out of their local market. For stakeholders in affordable housing, the most appealing benefit of modular construction is no doubt the dramatically reduced timelines for building. So what makes modular construction the perfect fit for affordable housing? https://hubs.ly/H0s1sjC0
As the country begins to return to work, many are talking about the 'new normal'. Physical distancing and health screenings are part of the current guidelines across the country and organizations are committed to ensuring the health of their employees. With these new requirements, more space may be required to accommodate staff. NRB’s in-plant buildings are an ideal solution in providing additional office space within an existing facility - quickly. https://hubs.ly/H0s1fZM0
Modular housing is easing into the mainstream with the development of two new City of Toronto affordable housing complexes and NRB is pleased to be part of this build. At NRB, we think of ‘modular building’ as a process rather than a product. It’s an alternative project delivery method that begins by producing a customized building off-site under controlled conditions. Building off-site is also a more sustainable process that inherently results in waste avoidance upstream and reduced site disruption and disturbance. We've identified six pre-construction strategies to assist you in planning your next project to ensure its success. https://hubs.ly/H0s1lDS0
On behalf of everyone at NRB, we would like to wish you a Happy Canada Day. Our offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 1st and will reopen on Thursday, July 2nd.
There is often confusion and misinformation surrounding the standards and codes that apply to modular construction. Here's a helpful article from the Modular Building Institute entitled Breaking Down the "Modular Building Code" which details the applicable rules and regulations. https://hubs.ly/H0rYCnx0
According to research conducted by On-Site Magazine last month, more than half of the largest builders in the country are either considering or already moving into off-site construction. This recent article provides an overview of the current trends in the construction industry, including insights from Joe Kiss, Horizon North’s President of Modular Solutions. https://hubs.ly/H0rT95T0
A prominent builder of high-end multi-story residential condominiums needed a sales center within a short timeframe that reflected their upscale style and could easily be moved in the future to new developments. They looked at the innovation and off-site construction offered by NRB. The result was a stunning 1,696 sq. ft. sales center. The unique exterior design included floor to ceiling glazing on two full walls and angled flat aluminum panels the combination produced a modern, eye-catching office, just what the client wanted. The building, constructed out of steel and concrete was designed for future relocations and can easily be deconstructed and reinstalled - the project took 11 weeks and you can see the architectural visualization video here. https://hubs.ly/H0rRV050
