Today marks the National Day of mourning to recognize workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace related hazards and occupational exposures Unfortunately, we all know someone who has has had their life impacted due to a workplace accident. Please take a moment to think of them today....or better yet call them or enjoy a virtual coffee break.

In honour of Telecommunications Week #NPSTW2021 please join us in recognizing the efforts of all our members who work in this capacity. Our Communications Unit plays an integral role in the safety of our frontline responders, and the community as a whole, and deal professionally with everything from a found property complaint to the most horrific of scenarios. Most importantly, they are the initial ears and voice in ensuring the safety of those responding. In the past year this role has evolved to include COVID screening. Your ability to adapt to our ever changing environment is just one of your many skills, and on behalf of the Niagara Region Police Association, we want to thank you for your daily support and dedication.

Today has been declared a National Day of Observance for COVID-19. As a nation, we remember and honour the over 22,000 Canadians who have been lost to COVID-19 this past year. The loss has been tremendous and it is important to take some time today to reflect and support all those in our community who have lost a family member or friend. It has been a year like no other, with many individuals tirelessly assisting those impacted by COVID-19, either in their place of work or th...rough volunteer means. This commitment and work continues and involves a multitude of sacrifices. We recognize and thank all those individuals and their ongoing contributions great or small they have all made a difference. Our members have played a significant role during this past year and we are very proud of them. With the battle far from over we know you and your families will continue to be impacted by your service. Stay safe and thank-you, NRPA Board of Directors
