Halifax Fire Fighters Donate Big! On Tuesday, January 19th IAFF Local 268 President, Brendan Meagher, presented NSFFBTS Treasurer, Jim Benoit, with a sizable donation cheque. Funds were raised by the Union from rebates at the Brick and the sale of IAFF vehicle stickers. The donation comes at a significant time for the charity as the Society's largest fundraising event of the year has just been cancelled again this year due to COVID19 restrictions. The Society would like to thank IAFF Local 268 members for their generosity.

Discussions with the Salvation Army for rental of their facilities is ongoing. However, if government restrictions surrounding the SARS-CoV-2 virus are relaxed enough, and in a timely manner, tentative dates for Camp Connect in 2021 will be August 15 - 20. Further updates will be posted here later in the Spring as more information becomes available.

Our primary fundraiser of the year normally held in April has been cancelled again this year. Due to government restrictions and regulations the regular venue is unable to host the event in April. The NSFFBTS will reassess the situation in the Spring and may consider hosting the event later in the year if regulations / restrictions will permit and enough time is available for participants to fundraise. If you have any funds raised for this event and still wish to donate them, please contact an Executive member by emailing [email protected] We would like to thank everyone for their past participation in this event. Your devotion and contributions have made a significant impact for the burn survivors we service. Please check back later in the Spring for an update on this event.

The NSFFBTS has been watching the current virus crisis closely to make a determination on holding Camp Connect this year. Several discussions took place between senior camp staff, NSFFBTS executive members, and the Salvation Army (owners of the camp property). The final decision was based on forward projections of restrictions as well as for the safety of campers and staff. Should the situation change drastically and we have time to prepare for a summer camp we will contact all past attendees via email. If you are a prospective new camper and wish to be informed of any changes please send us an email. Otherwise, we will be looking forward to hosting Camp Connect again in the summer of 2021. If you have any questions pertaining to the decision, please send your query to [email protected]
