Laura Cunningham you're awesome! Thanks for putting these great purses together. Shout out to the #RisingYouth Community Service Grant and the Soroptimists of North & West Vancouver for their support.

Women around the world have felt an extra impact this year because of the global pandemic. The women working at NSCSS have also carried this extra load - risking their own safety to improve the safety and quality of life of other women and their families. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work during these extraordinarily challenging times!

100 Women Who Care of the North Shore have a great fundraising model that benefits many charities in our community. And this past month it was NSCSS who benefitted. Thank you to the 100 Women who raised $10,500 for our organization!

Darlene Clarke Hole (@Heron Beach Studio) - thank you so much! Not only did Darlene raise over $5,250 for SAGE Transition House, she also donated this beautiful painting which fits in perfectly in our newly renovated Women's Room. Darlene raised this money in her artwork sales. Thank you Darlene for your beautiful work!

We have had an incredible response to our request for cloth masks - and even some special treat for the women & children staying at SAGE! Thank you: Lisa Vaagen (North Shore Candy) Nasim Datoo Ljiljana Matic... Mary Isaacs Maria Koskela Susan Long Sandie Johnson Linda Cooper (Grasp Software Corporation) Protect our Frontlines Vancouver (Frontline Facemasks - Protecting our frontline workers) & Ragna's sister in Vernon... There are more of you who are planning to donate more cloth masks too. That's awesome - keep 'em coming! We're going to need a lot of them on an ongoing basis - for the women and children who are living in a communal setting at the transition house, for our hard working front line staff at SAGE, and for the Outreach workers who are working in the community.

Thanks for the masks Nasim!! And thanks to all of you who have offered your help.

We need washable cloth masks! Thanks to all of you reaching out to help. We are so grateful for your support and concern. One thing we've realized is just how many cloth masks we need - especially as we see that this is something that we are going to need for months ahead... If you have time and the the skill to make a couple of masks for us, that would be great! Email Connie at [email protected] if you are able to help out. The type that is most comfortable seems to be the ones with material ties like the ones in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY3aS1L7S-4 There are lots of designs and patterns out there, so if you have one that you like, that's great! Thanks!

Thank you to our incredible staff team who are working hard to keep our vital services operating during these incredibly difficult times!! We are continuing to help women fleeing violence with our emergency housing, and providing telephone support through our community programs. But now more than ever we really need YOU to help us out. We made the difficult decision to close our thrift store and this has left us short of vital funds. It's a difficult time for everyone right now but if you are able, please consider making a donation. Violence in the home is known to increase during times of increased stress, and we need your help to do everything we can for at-risk women and children right now. Thank you!

Gary Born did it - the Sahara Trek, raising over $10,000 for NSCSS on the way. Well done Gary!! A note from Gary: Firstly, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. A trip such as this really changes your perspective. The first phase of this adventure was fund raising. With your help I raised $10,700 and as a group we collectively raised over $1.1million to fund women's emergency shelters througho...ut Canada. Next was fitness preparation. As you may know this part comes easy for me. But I did augment my usual regime with two 3 day treks in the summer. Once the preparation, planning and packing were completed I was ready to go. The vastness of the Sahara with its stark beauty and the absence of the usual interruptions from technology gave me an opportunity to really clear my head. At the end of each tiring day we were rewarded with spectacular sunsets followed by magical starry nights. It was an opportunity to spend time and really get to know 29 colleagues from across the country. We shared stories and then after long days of trekking compared blisters, black toes and an assortment of aches & pains. As I arrived home I was reminded of the beauty of my city & home, the everyday comforts which I take for granted and the love that fills my life. Thank you again for supporting me and I have shared a short video to give you some insight into the Sahara Trek: https://drive.google.com//1WQgwem5TH6RYQvfQd5jNpMbp7/view Warm regards, Gary Born Personal Real Estate Corporation Royal LePage Sussex
