Coming soon ... we are delighted to welcome back archaeologist Dr. Christine Johnston from University of Western Washington to present another fascinating exploration of the ancient world. This course will provide a general introduction to the cultural and political history of Rome and the Roman Empire, from the first settlers to the eventual collapse of the Roman Empire. Topics will include the early population and foundation of Rome, the structure and development of the Roman Republic, social inequality and political reform, law and literature, religion and ideology, the development of the Roman military complex, and the growth and decline of Roman imperial power.
