Extension cords are designed for temporary use only and create a fire hazard when used on an ongoing basis. If it is damaged it can dramatically increase the ri...sk of fire in your home or business. ***During the colder months DO NOT use an extension cord for space heaters. It can overload the circuit or overheat the extension cord and cause an electrical fire. Setting the space heater to a higher temperature will not make it safer. Here are some extension cord tips: 1. Before using an extension cord, inspect it for damage to the cord and plug ends. Inspect your cords frequently. Abrasions from moving furniture or a pet that has chewed the cord can go undetected, so check them often. 2. Only use cords that are in good repair and discard extension cords that are damaged. 3. Extension cords are FOR TEMPORARY USE ONLY which means they are not designed to stay plugged in for long periods of time. Do not use extension cords for appliances such as heaters or refrigerators. 4. Unplug your extension cord when not in use. Play it safe and always unplug extension cords from the outlet. 5. Avoid mechanical damage. Do not run extension cords under rugs or carpets, through windows or doors or against furniture where they can become pinched. Keep extension cords away from sharp objects to prevent cuts to the protective sheathing. 7. Purchase extension cords and other electrical devices from a reputable retailer. Check to make sure it is ULC or CSA approved for use in Canada. It’s easy to purchase a inexpensive extension cord, but always be wary of certifications

We're hearing about people receiving phone calls claiming to be from government agencies requesting a SIN and personal information, sometimes demanding money o...r pre-paid retail purchase cards, and further intimidating individuals by threatening arrest if the information is not provided. These are phishing scams which can lead to financial and identity theft. Government organizations, financial institutions and service providers do not conduct account-related business in this manner. If you receive a call asking for your Social Insurance Number, or any other personal or financial information, request a name and call-back number so you can verify the organization requesting this information. You should also verify any suspicious e-mails or text messages. Fraudulent activity should reported to police (902-563-5151) and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.

We have had a few inquiries about the online transactions and why they show up how they do, so here is the Cole's Notes version: The lottery license is held by ...the Amherst Fire Fighters' Association, who administers the draw on behalf of the 209 participating agencies. Rafflebox provides the online platform but the actual purchase transaction goes through a separate secure online merchant named Bambora. Rafflebox never sees or takes any money, and Amherst collects the deposits from Bambora and disperses the funds through an accounting firm. When you see the transaction on your card statement that is why it comes up as Bam* Amherst or similar, and no your credit card was not hacked or used fraudulently.. Unfortunately, the online merchant does not take E-transfers however Visa debit cards do work, along with major credit cards. See more
