Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. Today we celebrate, appreciate, cherish, love all of the incredible & important Two Spirit, trans, and gender-non-conforming ...(2STGNC) people in our worlds. We also hold grief, sorrow, hurt, and rage at the injustice and violence that 2STGNC people confront, navigate, interrupt, and struggle with daily. It is with loving community practice and active resistance that we hold these two truths today. We contain multitudes. In our imaginations, we dream futures that persistently prioritize 2STGNC people’s safety and care. We dream of spaces free from cisnormativity, and instead of unbound gender creativity, exploration, and magic. We dream of worlds centering 2STGNC youth leadership and perspective. We contain multitudes because as we dream, we are also working to disrupt our current oppressive systems rooted in colonialism, racism, ableism, imperialism. In the building of the futures we all deserve, it is imperative that we reflect on the intersections of colonization, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism and transphobia. It is crucial that we reflect on the intersections of ableism and transphobia. It is critical that we reflect on the intersections of class violence and transphobia. It is essential that we reflect on the intersections of border imperialism and transphobia. It is necessary that we reflect on the specific violence of transmisogyny. This reflective work must be accompanied with direct systems change work, community organization efforts, and collective care models. In this important work, we contain multitudes. Please join us tonight at 6pm at the Raymond Taavel Memorial Park for a Candlelight Vigil organized by Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (NSRAP) Two Spirit, trans, and gender non-conforming family, we love you, the world needs you, you are infinitely powerful. Graphic by @artfxg [Image Description]: Bold white arc text reads You Contain (line break) Multitudes with a black drop shadow. In between the lines of text is a white trans symbol with a black drop shadow. The background is 4 wavy stripes of different shades of blue and looks like an abstract ocean. In the top left corner is a logo for the Youth Project.

Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (NSRAP) 13.09.2020

Trans Awareness Week 2020 Flag Raising in Halifax: Good Morning! We are Charlie and Tim and we represent the NS Rainbow Action Project. While gender identity has been a protected ground against discrimination in Nova Scotia since November 2012, the treatment of those who identify as two-spirit, transgender, or gender diverse is far from being acceptable. Thus, it falls on organisations such as NSRAP to advocate, support, and intervene to ensure that transgender and gender di...Continue reading

The Trans PULSE Canada project collected survey data from 2,873 trans and non-binary people in 2019. This report presents results from the first national all-ag...es data on health and well-being among racialized trans and non-binary people in Canada. Overwhelmingly, racialized respondents reported high levels of discrimination, violence and assault, as well as anticipated and actual negative experiences with police and the legal system.
