On December 8th and 9th Barriere and Clearwater held two Zoom Vital Conversations respectively hosted by the North Thompson Communities Foundation. These discussions were a component of the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge which began in the spring of 2019. Attending were Dave Mauer of RBC Kamloops and representatives from organizations from both communities. Present were members from the Seniors, Council, Chamber, Youth, YCS and the Aboriginal Community. Each were asked... to briefly discuss "how Covid-19 had impacted their organization". The overall take away was that many were experiencing feelings of isolation as health restrictions saw the cancellation of social engagement activities, sporting events and gatherings which did not allow for adequate distancing. Barriere was quick to reach out with their "call a senior, call a friend" campaign which many other communities are adopting and promoting as well.
