What is your biggest hair challenge? The most common questions I see are about dryness and breakage. They are related. A first thing to check if your hair is co...nstantly dry, is your water quality. Because all the conditioners and hair butters in the world will not help if your water is mineralizing your hair. This cute style shows healthy, moisturized hair. See more

#YouAreBeautiful ...Simply be proud of your kinky hair! The struggles that many black women face when it comes to embracing our natural hair texture and the rep...ercussions of living in a society that often places nappy and unattractive in the same category. For a lot of black women, our natural hair texture has been something weve learned to disassociate ourselves with from childhood and therefore we lack self esteem and confidence when it comes to being beautiful naturally. If black women continue to associate beauty with eliminating our natural hair texture and making our eyes and skin colour lighter, we cannot then criticise a black man for preferring to date a woman who NATURALLY has straight silky hair, light eyes and light skin. We are only reinforcing and agreeing with the ideology that there is only one type of beauty one that doesnt include us. "Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colours AND hair textures"... I hope that more black women take the initiative to understand the importance of embracing our natural beauty instead of depending on a celeb to dictate to us whats hot and whats not. Afro hair is beautiful and so is any other hair texture that is taken care of and every woman regardless of her race should strive to embrace and feel comfortable in her own skin. Repost from another group, I did not write this: I read a lot of very anxious comments on this page and I am a bit confused. Questioning when locs will lock, what moisture to use, why the scalp is changing, so many concerns about a hair lifestyle, not hairstyle. It sounds like many of our sistahs want the process to hurry up and happen. I encourage us all to be patient with our new locs. The system was not designed for instant results, the beauty of the locs is in living and ...growing with them. Because we dont use any products to matte the hair, using anything that will leave a residue or a softening agent on your locs will make them mushy and cause slippage and holes. Trying to force your locs to loc is no different from trying to push your personal growth and maturity, its not loving and its definitely not freedom. I love my locs because they are not perfect and they are just as original as me. When I look at them they remind me of raw silk, unpredictable but beautifully and wonderfully made like me...like us See more
