Today we wear our jerseys to remember those whose lives were lost from the Humboldt Broncos. Everywhere you look, you see reminders. Hockey sticks in front of homes, commuters wearing jerseys while they drive, walk, or ride public transit, as well as green and yellow ribbons proudly displayed to show support. Most of all, we can feel it. Many of us grew up playing on sports teams. Many of us have coached, volunteered, or cheered on the teams of our children, friends, and fa...mily. We all thought in our heads as we traveled with our teams on tournaments what if something happens?. We all feel blessed that during our time coaching, playing, and cheering nothing like this happened to us. We put everything down to simply stop and remember those who lost their lives; and those who have to persevere with the physical and mental scars that now remain. It doesn’t matter how geographically distant we may be, we all share the trauma together. This country is sewn together with hockey. Not many Canadians can distance themselves from the circumstances. If you yourself didn’t ride buses for hockey/any sports trip, you have friends/family members who did. This will be one of those "where were you when you heard..." Moments in a lot of our lifetimes.
