Nunatsiavut Department of Health & Social Development 26.08.2020

September 30th is Orange shirt day. This day is to represent and honour the perseverance of the indigenous people and the trauma that had come with residential schools, we remember the lost, and recognize the survivors. Whether it be yourself, a sibling or a grandparent, it has left a mark on us all in the Nunatsiavut region. This day gives us a time to create conversation with the survivors, our youth and the people who may not understand the realities of residential schoo...l and its ability to affect us to this day. It is the recognition of the somber history of these institutions, but also a reminder of how resilient indigenous people are because of it.

Hey! How are you today?! It’s been a long few months for all of us. It’s always good to check in on yourself from time to time.... Have a look at this scale and see where you fit. If you feel that you are fitting in the lower side of the scale, please know that there is a lot of help out there for you. Check in with your local DHSD community office, and there is a Mental Health worker available to help you! If you need help, please feel free to connect to this page!
