It's not everyday you see your co-worker throat sing for United States Secretary of State. Last Friday Heidi Metcalfe-Langille and her throat singing partner Lynda Brown performed before U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken as he had a roundtable discussion with Students on Ice Foundation. Awesome and important work all around!

I’m so filled with belief and hope because when I hear your voices at the table, I hear and know that the responsibilities that our ancestors carried are still being carried even through all of the struggles, even through all of what has been disrupted we can still hear the voices of the land. Anishinaabe Elder Mary Deleary How about that for a quote?! We're excited to share NVision's Naomi Ratte (co-editor) through Indigenous Design and Planning Students’ Associa...tion at the University of Manitoba has published and produced 'Voices of the Land: Indigenous Design and Planning from the Prairies'. It features Chris Grosset on page 4 and was reviewed by Jennifer Swanson David. The publication features 16 Indigenous students, representing a range of nations across Turtle Island, and spanning all four departments (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and City Planning) from the Faculty of Architecture. It features profiles of members past and present, along with their artistic visions and designs. A digital copy of the publication is available here: https://umanitoba.ca//21-02-17-voices-of-the-land_final-fo For information, inquiries into receiving copies of the publication e-mail: [email protected]

For almost a year now at NVision, on the last Friday of every month we have Indigiflix Friday where we watch an Indigenous film and then discuss that months film after our Friday huddle. The films and storytelling from different Indigenous filmmakers allow us to be more culturally aware and connected through our shared thoughts through discussion afterwards. This month we wanted something a little lighter, we chose Searching for Winnetou by Drew Hayden Taylor. You can chec...k it out here: https://gem.cbc.ca//season-1/episode-10/38e815a-00dc1ac7f74 If you have any suggestions for next month, please comment below.

Check out last weeks very informative and entertaining podcast of The Every Lawyer (Canadian Bar Association) - Conversations on Call to Action with NVision's Jennifer David, Michael McDonald co-chair of BCs Law Society's Truth and Reconciliation Committee, and podcast host Brad Regehr. The conversation focused on Cultural Competency Training but find out what Jennifer David suggests it could be referred to instead. https://theeverylawyer.simplecast.com//cta-27-cultural-com
