Earlier today, we visited with Highlands Elementary School. When we arrived, student teachers were putting into practice physical literacy activities. We tried to keep up, but honestly, we need a bit more practice. We also had a chance to listen in as grade 7 students discussed current events (the recent provincial election results). The conversation turned into a great discussion about leadership. We ended the visit listening to kindergarten students singing Halloween songs......and then of course getting spooked when they shouted "BOO!". Plus, it's always a treat when we get to see student art. It was a great visit, and we thank Principal Deb Wanner and staff for being gracious hosts.
Kindergarten registration for 2021-2022 begins today. We recognize our outstanding teacher-librarians as we celebrate B.C. School Library Day! Today, families can show their support for librarians by participating with others across the province in the Drop Everything and Read challenge. Canyon Heights Elementary teacher Ian Cunliffe launching a bookmobile this past spring (story below) is just one example of how NVSD librarians foster a love of reading. ... bit.ly/2TsdlU8

Superintendent Mark Pearmain had a good visit this morning with the students, staff and administration at Lynn Valley Elementary. We had the opportunity to sit in on a class that was discussing the importance of values and perspectives, hear our youngest students sing Halloween-themed songs, and see some lovely pieces of artwork.
