We are very excited to see the overwhelmingly positive response we have had with our art workshops. Over the past several months, we have held over 50 of these workshops, with more than 3,500 Indigenous women participating! And we love how you love our sessions! We have read your comments asking why we don’t offer more sessions to accommodate everyone who wants to attend. Simple answer: WE’D LOVE TO! But in reality, we only have the funds right now to have a limited number of... participants. We are absorbing the cost of making sure these sessions are free of charge to you. But supplying materials, shipping them to you and having qualified instructors lead our workshops comes with a cost. And unfortunately, there is only so much funding available for this program. Our aim is to secure more funds so we can include more participants. And that is what we are aiming for. So until then, keep an eye out for our posters and we’ll be sure to let you know when we are able to increase attendance! See more

My experiences as a Cree woman, who grew up in my community, my father was a residential school survivor, my grandparents were residential school survivors. Those have impacted and shaped my entire life and my experience. https://www.aptnnews.ca//cree-journalist-connie-walker-im/

The expansion of the medical assistance in dying (MAID) bill sends a contradictory message to our peoples that some individuals should receive suicide prevention, while others suicide assistance. http://ow.ly/bKkt50CuYRQ
The Broken Dreams report on the toxic RCMP culture highlights what we’ve said repeatedly: the time for words is over, it’s time for action to #EndSystemicRacism in policing. NWAC has urged the RCMP to reform, and has even offered suggestions for concrete action that can be taken now, based on the 231 Calls for Justice. No more excuses, no more delays. It’s time for change.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. We stand with our Indigenous transgender and two-spirit communities, and their right for peace and security.
