It is with heavy hearts that the Sexsmith Vipers have heard of the sudden passing of an alumni Viper, Luke Heiken. Luke played for the team from approx 2008-2012 and was a huge addition, some years leading the team in points and being awarded the MVP award. Luke had made many appearances in our annual alumni Vipers games and was always a welcomed addition with his smiling face. Luke will be sadly missed by our hockey community and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who loved and cared for this gentle big guy. Once a Viper always a Viper, Rest easy #44.

The North West Junior Hockey League(NWJHL) has provided an update on league operations following the Alberta Health Services order issued on November 24 and additional restrictions put in place on December 7, ...also following Provincial Health Order issued on November 19 and additional restrictions put in place on December 3 for Bc teams. With current restrictions limiting game play, team practices, and participation of players the NWJHL has announced a postponement of all regular season games scheduled through to January 9 2021. The NWJHL appreciates the patience being shown by our fans, sponsors, volunteers and facility partners, during a difficult and uncertain time. We are particularly grateful to the players, team staff and billet families who have worked diligently over the past three months to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all participants. We look forward to returning to competitive play in January, and we will provide additional updates as soon as possible.

Vipers games this weekend are cancelled. We will initiate the 14 day COVID break in an effort to line up all the Alberta teams to start up again Nov 28th. Watch for an updated schedule that will take us into the Christmas break.
