Ranxerox Tangent left, Remember the day on the right, a very steep variation of RTD in the middle. Ranxerox climbed nice. Lots of water so it should fill in nic...ely. The middle variation of RTD was steep. Real steep. Ice quality was good enough. WI hard/fun. RTD is starting to fill up. It would be a tight squeeze getting through. See more
Thunder Bay South "Recon Day". Beautiful sunny day! Lost Falls. Alpine Outing & Studs Ahoy. Rainy Day Woman & Wet Ones.
Dec. 8th AMY R, Orient Bay, WI2?, ice is fat, some hollow stuff near the bottom but totally climbable. Running water on the climbers left past the first ledge. Lots of pockets in between the talus on the approach, watch your step. Can somebody confirm the grade, I'm pretty new to ice.
Never left the pavement in Tbay. Looks like it took a small beating compared to the last conditions post from the last warmup/rain. The top out looks very thin.
Sunday FunDay adventure with Paul Desaulniers to Feaver Falls in Thunder Bay Conditions report: With the warm weather, things look like they've deteriorated... a bit in town from the last couple weeks. There was today some good ice, some thin ice, and no ice. We hiked up along the left side of the initial drainage gully until we could see some ice to climb. Once at the ice, it was actually really nice, super chill and soft. But it's only about 30 meters of the usual 60 meters of ice up this drainage. A nicely flagged trail cuts right at the top of the ice heading towards the next gully/shute which leads to Feaver Falls itself. The snow/shale gully itself wasn't too bad, but also could be much better (needs more snow and ice to cover up the shale completely). When we got up to Feaver Falls itself, we noticed it was quite thin on all sides, and also flowing hard. The harder right side looked good to start, but then looked really thin and not well bonded near the top. The easier left side had no ice on it. The middle had some good ice, although relatively thin still, with no ice at the top of the steps leading to the end of the first pitch. So we decided instead of whacking away at what ice there was, to give it more time to form back up and send snowballs barreling down the hills on our way back down. All in all, twas a fun afternoon with a good bud www.outdoorskillsandthrills.com See more
