He remembers how his friendship with Kazumi Shintani, a Japanese-Canadian boy, was interrupted by the internment of the Japanese-Canadians and unexpectedly rekindled many years later. Gordon is now a retired teacher living in South Burnaby who recently published memoirs of his childhood in Lillooet during the Great Depression.
