Orange Shirt Day in PreK
TPEC students designed their own Orange Shirts!
Today is Orange Shirt Day! Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) Residential School (1891-1981) Commemoration Project and Reunion events that took place in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in May 2013. The last Residential school in Canada closed in 1996 here in Saskatchewan. Orange Shirt Day honours the victims and survivors of the residential school system. It is about promoting awareness and reconciliation. In classrooms across the division students will be learning about the significance of Orange Shirt Day through activities and stories. To learn more about Orange Shirt Day, visit the organization website: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/about-us.html
What a great picture to end off week 3!
