The Guatemala Huehuetenango is no longer available much to the chagrin of the devotees of that flavour profile. We have gone back to this Finca Carrizal. Ah! to share my feel good moment when today's first client held her bag of Yellow Catuai and said " One of the nice things about the day ".
Client flexibility and choices make it possible to offer Freshly Roasted coffee beans. The empty shelf situation happened on Wednesday at 4:30 when a client came in to purchase the remaining bags. During the day people were open to exploring other varietals when their usual selection was sold out. It really is helpful to our efforts of divining what will sell in the following two days. Shortage of stock is incovenient for the few who came in late in the day but the earli...er clients received Freshly Roasted beans that were aged two days. On the flip side as of 10:30 Thursday everything is fresh again. Up to six months ago we only roasted enough Decaf to fill 4 bags but as more people overcome the bad press of Decaf more people are exploring appreciating the Swiss Water processing of the Peruvian beans. Rather than jumping into the "deep end" some buy a bag of regular and a bag of Decaf and mix them according to their secret recipe. Some roasters advocate waiting while the beans degas, while NXT, sells Freshly Roasted beans, just out of the roaster, giving clients the choice of when to consume and compare the flavour maturation of the beans. Thank you. See more
NXT participated in a "Return to Normalcy - customer mail-out". Our focus was the immediate area west of Calgary Trail and south of Whyte Avenue. We dream of recipients recycling the cards to coffee friends. It was interesting that people, who live only three blocks away were discovering NXT. Previously we depended entirely on our great 5 star Google reviews, on Blogs, and on our bandit signs to make our presence known to the neighbours. Bandit signs are quite effective b...ut are sort of precarious advertising because they tend to "push the buttons" of Bylaw Officers. In addition to the contact information we attempted to pictorially show the transformation of green beans into an espresso (with great crema without recourse to Robusta beans). We have been tagged but more is better and lifts the spirit.
It was a rather ominous sign when the first family of the day continued down the sidewalk in front of NXT. The situation reversed itself as shown in the rather bare shelf at 4:00 last Saturday even though we roasted first thing in the morning . Several people were disappointed because we had run out of Yellow Catuai, the client favourite. First come - first choice. Unless of course, if you reserve via [email protected] then we will put your order aside for you. The third pho...to illustrates the NXT approach that does small batch roasting to assure maximum freshness. We try to anticipate the coffee that that will be required before we roast again so that little remains on the shelf at the next roast session. Of course, on some days we run out of some varietals but the beans are always Freshly Roasted. This weekend is Father's Day which stimulates a lot of coffee gift bags which resulted in three consecutive roast days. Happy Father's Day!
It was the time to do an update but there was not an inspiration in sight. This sign was dropped off in appreciation for the coffee beans. It was a 3 for 1; a compliment, a sign, and a post inspiration. The sign itself is not specific about NXT selling beans only, so we thought that through the use of our Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans people can serve superb coffee in their homes.... Yesterday two people bought a worrying amount of bags. Upon questioning they assured me that that they were visiting the kids this week. Though I did not ask, I wonder if they were afraid of the quality of the coffee the kids would serve. Life is too short to drink stale coffee.

NXT presents its sign painters. Their work is displayed on Roasting Days and was captured by professional photographer Bill Brennan. The contrast is a little high because we could not move the truck out of the bright sunlight. The printing is duplicated on the opposite side. We are told that it is rather visible which was the intent. Karen, just dropped in, she saw the bandit signs on Calgary Trail, then when she turned east on 68 Avenue, to go to Home Depot, she noticed this sign which guided her to NXT Roasters. Apparently the freshly roasted coffee is a reward to self for undertaking to rebuild the fence in her parents backyard.
Welcome, we are open to distributing Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans. Larry Zacharko talked me into this photo before Covid-19 days. The important feature is that the door is open. And, of course the beans are freshly roasted. The last three days have been Roasting Days. Towards the end of last week the Pollution Abatement System was upgraded which caused the stock to decrease to one bag. Therefore every varietal had to be roasted on Friday to give an acceptable selection. Did not guess the quantities correctly therefore had shortages on Saturday. Had to roast more Yellow Catuai and Brazil +50 Seven Falls. Today's roasting session replenished the popular Yellow Catuai and Brazil Seven Falls (sort of decimated that stock a little later when a Seven Falls devottee bought four bags). Thank you for thinking of us.
The first mask is used for painting. It has very good filtration but only for the wearer. The exhausted air is not filtered, it blows through a check valve. The middle P95 filters organic material but again it does not filter the exhausted breath. The cheapest looking mask brings benefit and some safety to people on both sides of the mask because it filters both ways. The two first masks do incorporate a rubberized seal while the third is more likely to have passageways
Like many businesses NXT has been affected by the temporary lockdown. We are still OPEN, the regular hours, because we supply a food. If the truth be known we actually supply early morning therapy without the sour surprise. We are attempting to protect people from the Covid-19 by washing hands after every transaction. The $10 banknotes given as change are wiped off with Spray Nine because we do not want to be associated with dirty money. Of course it is a fine line between that and money launderting. Clients have been very good about only entering when the previous client leaves to again minimize random exposure. Finally, as much as possible I will wear a mask. If I do have or get something I will keep it. We wish you the best in this situation we are in.
