Due to COVID 19, our classes are cancelled until March 2021 at the earliest. Once we can restart safely, registration will begin a month before classes begin. In the meantime, we will offer some education nights via Zoom. The first one will be on Monday, January 25. Stay tuned.

One of our long time Club members passed away. Sharon Palmer was a member of NYOC since the 70s. She was mostly into agility, obedience and herding with her Service dogs , her beloved Shelties. She kept very active with her dogs as you can see with all the titles that she earned on Sky. CH. Volunteers needed as COVID Ambassadors An essential part of the plan is having additional help at classes from COVID Ambassadors who will help collect personal health assessment forms and direct students where to stand inside the church to ensure safe social distance is maintained. We will provide you with a mask, if needed, and give you more information in September. It would be great to have several people on each night so we can take turns and share the work. We ...just need an hour or two of your time and you don’t need to attend for the whole session if you can only give us a couple of nights during the class schedule. Training classes are restarting on September 22 and 24!! Classes are now back on Tuesdays/Thursdays. In order to keep everyone safe we have limited class sizes to five dogs/handlers, so we are giving NYOC members the opportunity to register in advance of non-club members (membership has its privileges!), so if you are interested in taking a class, please register as soon as possible. 07/22/2020 Announcing the Addition of Rally Intermediate to the AKC Rally Virtual Program The AKC Rally Department is excited to announce the expansion of the AKC Rally Virtual Program to include the Rally Intermediate class. Rally Intermediate is the next level of AKC Rally above the entry-level Rally Novice class. The Rally Virtual Program was announced three months ago and the positive response to it has been tremendous. As with Rally Novice, the Rally Intermediate comp...etitor sets up a pre-designed AKC Rally course, records the team’s performance, and submits it to AKC. In turn, AKC will assign a pre-selected AKC Rally Judge to virtually review and score the team’s Rally performance. Rally Intermediate is open to all dogs six months of age and older that have earned the Rally Novice (RN) title but have not earned an AKC Rally Advanced (RA) title. There are five pre-designed courses published on the AKC website for the exhibitor to choose from. The exhibitor will setup the course according to the Instructions provided and with answers to the commonly asked questions in the FAQ document. They will video the performance, upload the video to their personal YouTube account, set the required YouTube viewing options, and submit the video link with the online entry form and pay the fee electronically to AKC. Once the entry form is received, the video link will be assigned to a judge for review. All qualifying scores will be recorded on the dog’s AKC record and applied toward the three required for the Rally Intermediate (RI) title. The virtual Rally program is planned to end at midnight December 31, 2020 and all video submissions must be received by that date and time. Some of NYOC members may remember Judy Rich. She was an NYOC member since 1971. She was also an Obedience Trial judge and was still active mostly in flyball and agility in her last years. Rich, Judith Marion April 4, 1943- May 8, 2020... Sadly we announce Judy lost her battle with cancer and passed away at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, May 8, 2020. She has now joined her beloved husband, Karl Rich (deceased 1996), and all her four-legged buddies at the rainbow bridge. She will be missed by Flash, Pepper, and Zippy as well as her human training partners and friends. Judy was very active in the world of dog performance sports. She participated in Obedience, Agility, and Flyball with her poodles and border collies. She was a long time Obedience judge for the Canadian Kennel Club and a lifetime member of the CKC and several dog clubs. See more

The Board of Directors for NYOC Dog Training has decided to cancel the Rally and Obedience Trials for June 2020. This has been done with a great deal of regret but it was the only sensible solution for these times. A week after we had made this decision, we also received notice from the City of Toronto that our permit for Pine Point Arena had been cancelled, again due to Covid19. There is no doubt that this is the only responsible course of action but we will miss the e...xcitement and the challenge that the trial offers and we will miss getting to see old and new friends, two legged and four legged. The likelihood of us rescheduling the trial for September is very small if not nil. So, we will soon start planning for next year! We hope to see everyone at Pine Point Arena in June of 2021. It will be a big reunion and a celebration of human/canine partnerships. Stay safe

NYOC regrets to announce that all our training classes for the spring session are cancelled because of Covid-19. Any money that has been paid for the spring session will be refunded. Please contact [email protected] if you have questions about your refund. We expect to resume training in September 2020. We hope to post training dates for the fall session by July 1 but this will depend on what is happening with Covid-19.... Please continue to check the What’s New section of our website for updates. As of now, we are still planning on running our correction match, obedience and rally trials on June 19, 20 and 21.
