Introducing the newest members of the OAAT family ... Hennessy, Jamesson, Bicardi and Smirnoff. These babies were found by a gentleman who cares for a cat colony, with no mom around. He was concerned for their well being so contacted our friends at Virden Animal Hospital, who in turn contacted us. They are estimated to be 3 weeks old, so will be exclusively bottlefed for another 10 days, then gradually weaned onto wet food....many sleepless nights ahead. ... The family has been doing very well with their foster family. Here is what foster mom has to say about her girls ... ‘Onyx is the quietest of all three sisters, she is extremely laid back. Onyx is a big fan of naps! Onyx definitely has her own individual personality and tends to be more of a loner. She interacts and plays with her sisters but definitely likes to do her own thing on her own time. Ruby is the most outgoing, playful and driven of the three sisters. Ruby just about has walking down stairs figured out. She does not walk on our walks ... she runs at her top speed! Ruby has tons of energy and an outdoorsy personality. Not much scares or bothers her. She is absolutely a people pleaser. Ruby and her sister Jade are two peas in a pod. Jade is the cuddliest of the three sisters. Jade has walking down steps mastered already. Jade will follow beside us on walks. Jade is very attentive to people. Jade and her sister Ruby are as thick as thieves.’ We did not meet dad, so are unsure of breed and size when full grown. Picture of mom is in comments. The girls are 6 weeks old. Introducing the newest members of the OAAT family .... our little birds ... Robin, Chickadee, Penguin, Finch, Sparrow, Goose and Hawk. We were asked to help a pregnant cat in a rural community. We had space, so we we said sure. But our pregnant cat wasn’t pregnant anymore and stunning Raven and her 6 beautiful babies came into care. Meanwhile we had our newborn bottle baby, Finch who was being bottlefed every two hours. We thought we would give introducing him to Mom...ma Raven a shot. Raven accepted him without a second thought. But Finch, wasn’t too sure what to do. After watching very closely for 24 hours, it was obvious he was going to be just fine and now has his very own mom and siblings. PLEASE SHARE We continue to search for the perfect home for Tinsley. We received some great applications from her first post but we are searching for just the right forever home. Tinsley is an 8 month old ‘Manitoba Special’ who was returned to OAAT as she had grown too big for her family ... she is weighing in at 80lbs. ... Despite her size Tinsley is pretty sure she is a lap dog. She loves to snuggle on the couch. She is also however, a girl that needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She’s still just a pup after all. Tinsley is a bit of a timid flower and takes a bit of time to warm up. Once she does though she loves with all of her heart. Tinsley is a sweet and kind girl. She loves kids and is gentle with them but because of her size we are looking for a home with older kids (9 and up). Tinsley used to bother her kitty roommate (likely just to play) but kitty didn’t have claws to be able to let Tinsley know when she had enough. She listens well and even let a frog jump around on her when told to ‘leave it’ She could learn to be best buds with a dog savvy kitty. Tinsley is crate trained and fully house trained. She has great recall. She’s not a barker. She does need to continue working on her leash skills. Her favourite games are fetch and keep away. Tinsley’s ideal family will be dog savvy parents who can handle a large breed dog. Parents who are committed to exposing her to new experiences, committed to providing her lots of exercise and committed to mentally stimulating her (she is very smart). She would prefer to be the only dog in the home or have an extremely laid back dog friend. A home outside of the city would be best with opportunities to run and splash in the water.
