The Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care is saddened to hear of the loss of a fellow Child and Youth Care Practitioner due to COVID-19. The Toronto Catholic District School Board employee supported the students, families and school community of St. Francis De Sales Public School. Our sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and school community impacted by this tragic loss. Child and Youth Care Practitioners (Child and Youth Workers) work directly supporting ...children and youth in many Boards of Education across Ontario. Child and Youth Care Practitioners dedicate their time and careers to supporting children, youth and families and we are deeply saddened, and reflective after hearing of this loss to our community. We recognize that a loss like this will be felt across our province by all Child and Youth Care Practitioners and that this news will also increase the concerns of contracting COVID-19, especially for those working directly with children, youth, and families. We continue to encourage practitioners to take Public Health advised precautions. We know we will join together in our grieving and encourage that we all participate in self and community care, especially during these challenging times. To support Practitioners in their personal and professional journey through the pandemic, the Association has compiled a list of resources, online tools, professional development opportunities and websites that provide digital resources and learning opportunities related to COVID-19 and virtual supports. Please visit our website here to access the list of resources. Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care Board of Directors @globalnewsto @globalnews
