Today we traveled to the Fabulous Fifties as we turned our dining room into a 50's diner! We served Reuben sandwiches with french fries, and our activity manager Taylor went around with chocolate and vanilla milkshakes for all the residents. It sure was the cats pajamas!

Tonight was all about glitz and glam at our flash back Friday Old Hollywood Formal Dinner! We treated the residents to garlic butter shrimp with rice pilaf and wine service as they got to enjoy music from famous 50's movies as they ate! We even had a few famous faces stop by, which made the residents swoon and the paparazzi go flash crazy!

Today's ceremonies looked different than the years past, but nevertheless the tradition of remembrance was continued and those who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought and died were not forgotten. Today we held not one, but three different remembrance ceremonies. One on our Memory Care and during both our lunch seatings. We moved all the dining room furniture into our lounge so that we could have a safe environment to hold our service. Thank you to our past and present residents for their service to our country. Thank you to those who continue to serve for our country and thank you to the fallen for our freedom. Lest We Forget

Today we had our very first TRAVELING wine tasting class. The residents were all smiles while trying new wines and enjoying cheese and crackers!

Today we celebrated National Merlot Day! We served beef bourguignon for dinner with Two Oceans Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from South Africa! As we enjoyed dinner, our wine and light jazz music we had the most beautiful sunset to look at, out our dining room windows. Everyone was dressed to impress! How lucky are we ?!

Flashback Friday 1950's Style! While sippin' on Rootbeer Floats this afternoon everyone was shakin, rattlin' and rollin!! What a fab day!

Today we had a spook-tacular Halloween Spine-Tingling Soiree! Lunch was spaghetti & eyeballs and to top it off, a delicious poison apple cocktail!! This afternoon we are doing backwards trick or treating with our activity staff going door to door delivering halloween candy to every resident! Happy Halloween Everyone !!

Today we celebrated a very special lady who turned 95 years young!! Happy Birthday Norah

Today we held a bake sale with all the proceeds going towards the The Royal Canadian Legion - National Headquarters.We are happy to say we raised $105.00! We also started our Remembering Tree and collecting pictures and memorabilia to put out on our Remembrance Day display table.

Oakpark residents are sweet to the core Today we had our traveling Apple Social with ciders and homemade apple crumble! The residents loved every minute and singing along in their doorways to "Dont Sit Under the Apple Tree"

Our Activity Manager Taylor spent the last couple days collecting and pressing leaves found in our garden for each resident. This afternoon the managers went around door to door to hand out cards as a thank you to each resident for being so understanding and supportive during this time. We could not do this without them!

Well our Oktoberfest was a little different this year, but a great time none the less! We started with a delicious lunch of bratwurst, German potatoes and sauerkraut ... yummy!! Then the afternoon was spent going door to door with German beer, snacks and with traditional German folk music!

Our memory care floor has had a couple busy days, decorating for fall and enjoying the nice sunny weather. And we were lucky enough to have Zippy the therapy dog come for a visit last night!

Tonight's forecast... 99% chance of wine! No better way to start the weekend than with a wine tasting class. The residents loved trying to figure out the smell and taste of each wine. They already can't wait for the next one!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! We had a very SWEET afternoon today with our make your own candy apple bar. What a yummy afternoon!

Today we celebrated our September birthdays and our belated August birthdays. Thank you to Denim and Lace for performing at our party, fun was had by all! The residents are now snuggled up with popcorn and drinks for a screening of the new movie Little Women.

Today our memory care residents enjoyed making and eating delicious Spiced Apple Oatmeal Cookies. Everyone is starting to get excited for Autumn!

Grandparents make the world.. a little softer, a little kinder and a little warmer We spent the afternoon enjoying a glass of wine and music by the very talented Ben Leglise. Tonight for dinner the residents are being treated to a delicious meal of black forest ham, scalloped potatoes and apple pie for dessert. ... Happy Grandparents Day!

Nothing better on a rainy day then coffee, hot chocolate and bailys!

Cheese, crackers and meat oh my!!! Today we treated the residents to a delicious charcuterie cart!! Hopefully they still have room for dinner...

Come one, come all ..... well actually we'll come to you with our Oakpark Traveling Carnival! The residents were so surprised to see a clown, lions, elephants, cotton candy and popcorn right at their door step! ... This afternoon brought out the inner child in residents and staff alike!

Everyone was "peachy keen" today at Oakpark! Delicious food, drinks, and even better company made this afternoon one to remember !

This afternoon we celebrated our 12th anniversary with amazing music, food and company! And the celebrations don't stop there, we're having a delicious dinner of Roast Beef Au Jus, Yorkshire Pudding and we finish off the day with Tiramisu!! Cheers to many more years of fun!
