Spring is the perfect time to learn all about bees! Students have been learning all about how a bee colony works together, how they help pollinate flowers, and how they make honey for us to eat! Students had a chance to dress up as bees to take a virtual field trip to a honey bee farm. They explored the virtual farm through fun VR experiences. Alumni Highlight - Danielle Grebe o Graduation year: 2013 Years at OCS: JK- Gr. 8... Favourite school memory: I have many favourite memories at OCS, however if I had to pick one, it would be our Grade 8 year-end trip to Ottawa. It was a great way to spend time with friends, as well as become more educated on the capital, and all of its famous attractions. Life after OCS: OCS provided a fantastic foundation for my learning. With the academic standard being so high, I was more than prepared to go into high school and beyond. I graduated high school as an honour roll student, and I do not think this would be possible without OCS providing such an advanced level of education. Life today: I am now in my last year of completing a degree in an Honours Specialization of Psychology as well as a Bachelor’s of Education. I was inspired to become a teacher after being surrounded by amazing teachers at OCS, specifically Mrs. Olé who I was fortunate enough to have as a teacher for grades 2, 3, 6, and grade 7/8 Geography & History. After working as a teacher for a few years, I hope to get my doctorate in Psychology, and become a children’s Psychologist. Pre-Covid, I am a volunteer in my church as a Sunday School teacher, and youth leader. I also work part-time at my dads dental office and volunteer in many organizations whenever I can. Bible verse: My favourite Bible verse is one that I’ve had memorized since participating in Bible club every week at OCS. It’s Joshua 1:9- Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. This Bible verse has been my favourite for many years as it reminds me that no matter how many trials I go through in life, God will always be my defender and will guide me wherever I go. #oakvillechristianschool #oakvilleindependentschool #ocsalumni
