It's #internationalwomensday and we want to thank the ROCK STAR members of our Day Women's league, who raise funds every year for club initiatives and improvements. These hard-working women spend countless hours making our club a better, safer, and more inclusive place for everyone! With the focus on health and safety this year, the club's new touchless faucets, funded by the Day Women, are a welcome contribution to the safety of everyone who visits our club. #occrocks #IWD2021 #internationalwomensday2021

We regret to inform our members that the OCC will be closed as of December 20th for the remainder of the 2020/2021 curling season. The Board of Directors made the decision based on the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, possible further restrictions and lockdowns, and the best case scenario for getting members as much of a refund of their fees as possible. Members should check their emails for full details regarding the closure and refunds.

League play starts on November 9th! We can finally share some good news with everyone! Halton Region has been placed into the 'Yellow / Protect' level of the province's new reopening framework and we expect that the Halton Medical Officer of Health will update her recommendations to permit game play. League play will commence on Monday, November 9th! League conveners will be in touch with players and teams with revised draw schedules. The protocols we've had in place for prac...tice ice will remain in place for game play. Members will still be required to check-in upon arrival at the Club and masks are required in all areas of the Club. Games will be 6 ends to start the season and there will be no bar service until further notice. Members are asked to arrive no more than 15 minutes before their game and exit the building no later than 15 minutes after their game has finished. Club Management and the Board will review all protocols and restrictions on an ongoing basis and will keep everyone up-to-date on any and all changes. All practice ice from November 9th on will be cancelled. We hope to have practice ice and makeup game ice available again starting the week of Nov 30th. There are still a few sheets of practice ice available this weekend. Please use the online booking module to book your sheet. Please note that although we're excited to be opening for game play, things move extremely fast in the age of COVID. There remains a chance that either the province or Halton Region restricts team sports to practice only again in the future. A change in recommendations may necessitate additional temporary closures of the Club. We also expect some growing pains while we work out health and safety protocols and ask that members remain cautious about their personal health, risk factors, and recreational activities. If you live in a region that is under a more restrictive reopening level, we ask that you consider your non-essential activities carefully. Don't forget to review the Club's Return-to-Play Guidelines before your first game. If you have any further questions, please contact the Club office. We look forward to seeing you at the Club! Don't forget your mask and good curling!

League Play Postponed On Friday, Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health issued a recommendation that all indoor team sports be limited to training only and that sports organizations should not engage in games or scrimmages. In light of this, the Club will be immediately suspending all game play and temporarily making the ice available for practice and training only until further notice. Practice ice will be available starting Wednesday, October 21st. Practice ice time slot...s can be booked online, through the Club’s regular practice ice booking module. A reminder that members must be logged into your OCC website account to access the ice booking module. More information about practice ice rules and protocols will be available early this week. The Board and Club Management are in touch with Halton Public Health to clarify the recommendation details. For more information about the Region's new recommendations for indoor facilities, visit https://www.halton.ca//HE-COVID-19-public-health-guideline We understand that this news comes as a disappointment and the Board will keep members apprised of the situation as it develops. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Board or Club Management.

We know this probably doesn't come as a shock to anyone, but we regret to inform you that the 2020 OCC Summer League is cancelled. This is the first time Summer League has been cancelled since its inception. This decision had less to do with curling under COVID conditions (we feel the curling protocols we're putting in place do a lot to reduce risk to members, athletes and staff), and more to do with the ever-evolving dynamics of the pandemic and the associated restrictions f...rom the provincial government and local public health authorities. Like all clubs, we're dealing with a moving target and we've found ourselves out of prep time to ensure a quality curling experience for everyone. Participants in Summer League should expect official notification from the club office indicating when to expect a full refund. Teams who were a part of Summer League 2019 will retain ownership of their spots in the 2021/2022 season, with teams who were registered this season being placed on the waitlist for available spots next season. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you on the ice soon! Bonspiel and event organizers will be contacted to work out rescheduling details. Not all of our summer events will be cancelled or postponed and we hope to have details on that soon. Our new tentative opening date is September 25th, pending the relevant restrictions are loosened or lifted by that time.
