We invite you to enjoy this MUST-watch, inspiring video on Oakville Little League’s Challenger division. It is a very important program for us, and one that makes us very proud. We would like to thank all of the incredible parents, coaches and volunteers of the Oakville Little League Challenger program for what you do to make it a huge success. If it weren’t for you, these kids wouldn’t be laughing, smiling and having fun. ... A special thanks to our sponsor of the Challenger division, The Optimist Club of Oakville. They have been sponsors of this division for many years and they dedicate their time to giving back to the youth of Oakville. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLsX8J0dUrU

The Oakville Optimist Club has been a significant sponsor for both our House League and Challenger programs for several years. They've partnered with Big Yellow Bag, a local company that delivers high-quality garden products in a clean bag straight to your door. Big Yellow Bag is offering to donate $10 to the Optimist Club for each bag purchased using the code OPTIMIST 21. As an added bonus, you save $5 on your order.... The organization uses their funds to support the youth in our community in many important ways. To order, call 855-424-4224 or visit bigyellowbag.com

Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd. recently announced it is closing its National Sports stores permanently by June. The Oakville location has been a loyal sponsor through its Association Partners program since 2012. We've been able to save significant money on equipment and other league essentials through its generosity. The store is now having a closing sale with at least 25% off all items. We hope everyone can take advantage and support our long-time friend.

If there was magic in this world, it happened within sight of the three bases and home plate. Dreams for the kids in the stands, all wanting to don a uniform, kiss their mom’s goodbye, and wield their bats as enchanted weapons destined to knock the cover off the ball. -Tee Morris Learning to play baseball is one of the great joys of childhood. Whether it is the chance to meet new friends, learn a life lesson or two or just have fun and get your knees dirty, everyone can get... something out of the sport. Learn to Play is the introductory division for Oakville Little League. There are no complex rules, no umpires and players don’t even need to have a baseball glove. Fun is guaranteed. Skills are taught with a soft "squishy ball for optimum safety. We teach kids how to catch, field, throw, run the bases and hit the ball. All activities will take place on Saturday mornings at Cornwall Field, home to the famous Oakville Little League clubhouse, and last about 90 minutes. Each session will consist of skills training followed by a fun game, giving players a chance to practise what they have learned. And as the famous Yankees catcher Yogi Berra said, "Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets." See you at the field! The age-old discussion; who makes a better 1st baseman - left or right-handed glove. Or does it even matter. Tell us what you think while you enjoy this lesson on receiving the ball at 1st. #littleleague #baseball #instruction https://www.littleleague.org//art/receiving-ball-1st-base/

You’re on 2nd. Batter hits one to RF. You take off ready to round 3rd & head for home. It all looks good, and easy. Unless, of course, Toronto Blue Jays legend, Jesse Barfield, is in right field - then you’ve made a poor decision. Because, Barfield had one of the best RF ropes in the MLB. And you’d be toast at home. Check out this video on outfield ground balls:... https://www.littleleague.org//ar/outfield-ground-ball-die/

Four out of five dentists agree; waiting back on your heels for a ground ball to come to you often results in an ice-pack on your chops.
