Our community came together for a chance to say goodbye to Stan Dixon, past Chief of the Shishalh Nation; and statesman who helped fundamentally change the relationship of Canada for sovereign indigenous Nations to exercise the right of self-determination. The Shishalh people, other surrounding tribal leaders, leaders from my community, and many community members sat together in the Longhouse in sadness and in love . My thanks to the Nation for thier welcome to myself and others to share in this goodbye.
