<3 Skeena <3 Skeena is a shy, sweet and sensitive soul, with lots of energy for fun and play. She is a mix of Labrador/Collie so it is no surprise that her pass...ion in life is playing fetch with her ball and earning treats. She is 6 years old mature and sensible but still has great energy. I have found her to be very friendly to visiting friends, and slightly more cautious to strangers we meet when out and about. Her friendship is easily won with some tasty treats. She is not good around young children, their fast movements and boisterousness is overwhelming to her. If it is necessary to meet other dogs, she needs a confident and slow introduction as she is quite fearful of them, especially larger dogs or dogs that are noisy or too excited to meet her. She does much better with calm dogs. Loose dogs running toward her are a big NO NO NO, even if they are they nicest dogs in the world. She doesn’t lunge and bark at other dogs but if they get too close she growls and may bare her teeth. Her preference is to avoid dogs she doesn’t know altogether and does very well passing right by them without having the pressure of meeting them. (Not reactive or lunging) Someone who lives in an area where there are few new dogs to meet would be ideal, and zero pressure by her adopter to meet them. Skeena likes her personal space and doesn’t like being pat on the head, but shoulders and chest are fine. She’s not yet confident enough to cuddle on the couch, but that’s just a matter of time. However, she is more than happy to share the couch with you as long as you don’t expect too much too soon. What Skeena needs is a home with a fenced large yard (or an acreage) where there is room to run as far as she can to chase her ball. She loves being outdoors with me as I work in the yard and she would love to be your gardening companion too. She needs exercise in the morning and again later in the day to keep her happy, between those times she is very happy to find a sunny spot in the house and fall asleep, or the couch she loves the couch. As long as there is nothing to make her nervous (invasion of personal space, small kids, strange dogs and people, and loud sudden noises) she is a very quiet laid back dog. Skeena would like to have all your attention on her all day, so a home where you are around most of the day would be ideal for her. She has lots of ideas for how you will spend your time together going for a walk or run, playing tug of war with her toys, playing fetch, and showing you her tricks and learning new ones so she can earn delicious treats. She is very smart and loves learning new things, in the two weeks she has been here she has mastered 5 new tricks! Skeena loves car rides, she doesn’t whine or bark and generally goes to sleep within 10 to 15 minutes of being in the car. She is great on leash and rarely pulls, if she starts to, a gentle reminder is all she needs to heel again. She will lunge and try to chase squirrels they are just too much of a temptation for her. Skeena is very loving towards her people, if you have the time and patience for her, you will be rewarded with an amazing companion.
