Time to get this garden readdy!! Let's till this thing up!!
Well it was a beautiful and productive day, getting the trail out to the back field made with all the free wood chips we've been getting. Then I got a flat tire. Luckily I wasn't driving it at the time, it was parked, and turned off, as I was about to start my first break of the day. We got the tire/rim off, gonna look into getting a new one put on.
The TURKEYs are in!! This will be a perfect preparation for Thanksgiving and Christmas :) super excited to see them grow.
So my poor sweet pup finally met the porcupine face-to-face this evening. Luckily this was a small one, and Duke didn't get too many quills in his face. This photo was taken after we had already gotten half the quills out, he's too agitated for us to continue tonight. Gonna have to try again in the morning. Also, it hasn't really dampened his mood, he still wants to play with everything lol
Got our 3rd load of wood chips this month. Can't wait to get this stuff spread out. If anyone needs wood chips let me know, I can get a couple of bags filled for you for a decent price ;)
Amazing Monday Afternoon on O'Brien Family Homestead with a whooping 11C the chickens are very much enjoying the beautiful weather and sunshine.
Such amazing things to learn! I thought each egg took just 24 hrs to grow, its cool to see that there's multiple stages of egg development going on inside a chicken.
Me: Trying to fix water pump. Kitten: Play Time!!!
Love having great neighbors!! He came over to do my laneway and up at the barn for free, send him away with fresh farm eggs and 2 chicken dinners. Always reward good people, treat others the way you wish to be treated, and leave no good deed unrewarded.
So this is a soft shell egg, this happens some times with new hatching chickens/geese. It still has a shell but its very soft and slightly translucent. Kinda feels like a stressball lol they are common, I just need to ensure the birds are getting enough calcium in their diet. 95% of the eggs currently produced have VERY solid shells, so I'll have to figure out which chicken might need the boost. But this is still a really good example for people who don't know about this stuff :)
We got us some very happy piggies lol Beer and Ginger just loving their new hay bedding lol they're like giant dogs
