Don't locate your fridge beside the oven and keep it away from direct sunlight. Clean the dust from under and behind your fridge at least twice a year. The best setting for the fridge is 2C - 3C and 18C for the freezer. Check the door seals because they can deteriorate over time. Do you have pipes that have frozen in the winter? Do you have pipes that are in spaces that drop below zero? Try using "Heating Tape". Heating Tape is a plastic strip that has heating elements embedded in it that can be wrapped around pipes & plugged in. It is easy to install but can be expensive to operate, so try to only use it when regular insulation isn't enough. Focus on the pipes where water comes in, instead of the pipes where the water drains. Drain pipes don't usually hold enough water to cause damage if they are frozen (other then traps below the sink, tubs & showers).
