"COVID-19 IS A SERIOUS DISEASE" - 400 IN NANAIMO COULD DIE - COULD BE 2800 PEOPLE NEEDING HOSPITAL CARE, FOR A HOSPITAL THAT HAS A MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF 400 ...- 1000 PEOPLE IN NANAIMO WILL REQUIRE ICU CARE --- AND REMEMBER: THIS HOSPITAL SERVES THE WHOLE CENTRAL ISLAND... SO YOU CAN DOUBLE THOSE NUMBERS..." Nanaimo Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr Forrest at Nanaimo General Hospital:"You've no doubt heard there are about 30 (39) cases on Vancouver Island... but that's only 30 that have been confirmed by testing. We are not testing everyone. It is likely there are hundreds... thousands infected here. Your contribution is just as important to defeating this as is the men and the women on the frontlines - by the grace of God and the hard work of all of us, we can contain this yet... otherwise my ugly mug may be the last face you see and it might be to tell you 'I'm sorry there is no life support left for you..." #ShareThisMessage

You want to maximize the development of your Hamstrings? Then make sure to not only include exercises that involve the movements they are responsible for, but a...lso include exercises and different positions that target each of the 3 different Hamstring muscles... 1. Hip Extension eg. Stiff-Legged Deadlifts, which targets more of the upper Hamstrings/Glutes attachments eccentrically. 2. Knee Flexion w/ Hips Flexed (90 angle between thighs and upper body) eg. Seated Hamstring Curls, which targets the Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus aka the inner Hamstring muscles. 3. Knee Flexion w/ Hips Extended (thighs in line with upper body) eg. Lying Leg Curls, which targets the Biceps Femoris aka the outer Hamstring muscle. So that being said, the way some Seated Leg Curl machines are set up aren't ideal. Take the machine I used in this video for example - the backrest is quite reclined. Referring to what I outlined above, the more you lean back (increase the angle between the thighs and upper body) it places more emphasis on the Biceps Femoris. So in order to target the Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus like one would want to with this particular machine, I make sure to sit upright and even hold onto the piece of the machine in front of me to prevent me from cheating by leaning back. It is amazing how what may seem like a small angle change results in such a different feel of an exercise. Happy Physiotherapy Month! Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability.... All physiotherapists registered to practise in Canada are qualified to provide safe and effective physiotherapy. They have met national entry-level education and practice standards, and have successfully passed a standardized physiotherapy competence examination prior to being registered with the college of physiotherapists in their province/territory. More than 20,000 registered physiotherapists work in Canada, in private clinics, general and rehabilitation hospitals, community health centres, residential care and assisted-living facilities, home visit agencies, workplaces, and schools.
Ok, I'm going to be brutally honest here: I HATE my biceps! I actually almost deleted this video because I am not happy with them lol They have ALWAYS been a we...ak muscle group for me, not so much strength-wise but I mean more so in terms of size and development. Therefore I have been prioritizing my biceps (along with my shoulder width and thickness) in my training and hitting them from all sorts of angles and rep ranges. And so far I am quite happy with the progress I've made. One of my favorite additions to my bicep training is a hybrid exercise that combines horizontal or preacher curls (depending on the equipment used) with double bicep curls while standing between a cable crossover apparatus (an exercise I find recruits the shoulders WAY too much). Using this exercise I find has really helped develop more peak to my lagging biceps. Form tips/cues: - Sit down either at a horizontal bicep curl machine or a preacher curl machine, then turn the torso to the side so the working arm is supported out to the side of your body while the rib cage/lat muscle is leaned up against the pad where the chest usually is. - Grip only one handle, and while in the stretched position I lean and turn my torso and head a little further away from the working arm which I find intensifies the stretch. - Then when curling the handle up to the top/contracted position, I simultaneously bring my torso and head back to the original side-facing position which seems to intensify the peak contraction (and almost leads to bicep cramping towards the end of the set). To take advantage of the contraction I hold it there for a brief pause. - To ensure maximal recruitment of the biceps, I picture cranking my pinky finger towards my shoulder (isometric supination) which intensifies the contraction. As always, quality over quantity.
