I applied for four grants in March and earlier this week it was officially confirmed that Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation has selected EOES to receive $5,000 in funds to help support our playground expansion and enhancement projects! Huge shout out to Derek at 49th Parallel Cranes. I emailed him earlier to inquire about the cost to rent a crane truck to offload our playground equipment when it arrives. He said because it's for kids - he's going to donate his services to us!!!!! I am feeling so grateful!!!! We have such an amazing community!

Check out our FRIENDSHIP bench that will be installed this summer. It's part of our playground project! Please keep the donations coming - every dollar counts!

Since our "Buy a Bolt" campaign started we have received $6,720 in donations! Next week, Amanda and I will be counting donations that have come in this week and I'll update you. THANK YOU to our families and friends who have been able to support this playground fundraiser through cash/chq donations. This fundraiser will remain open for all of May and most of June in hopes of meeting our budget shortfall. Every dollar literally helps and will go towards our playground projects. Please share the word - and our School District will mail out a taxable donation receipt for donations of $50 or more. (We just need a mailing address)

Copy of an email sent out today from our Super Intendant and our School Trustee Chair: This message is being sent to all parents in School District 69 As we move toward winter break we are reaching out to offer our thanks along with our best wishes for the coming season. We are grateful to all of our School District 69 families for working with us to make the best of a troubling time. Schools have been safe places as promised by our provincial health officer, with any COVID...-19 cases that came to schools having been contained other than in a very small number of cases where transmission occurred. Our own experience in the Qualicum School District has been that we have thankfully only had one case in one school. Beyond our main priority of health and safety during this unusual time we have seen great work by staff and students in tending to the other main thing, that being education. Whether a student has been in full time attendance, at home on school-based home support, or in distributed learning, our goal has been to give each student the closest experience to normal as possible. While the virus has meant we fall short of that ideal, we still see so much success for students every day. For that we are grateful to you as parents for your ongoing positive energy and support. Remember as you abide by the directives of the provincial health officer, including staying close to home and in your bubble, it will be important to tend to your and your children’s mental health and well-being. Parent/Teacher conferences are happening November 9 and 10. I believe meetings are approximately 15 minutes long and you can choose between a phone call or a zoom meeting. Purdys Holiday Campaign is now open! I have sent an email with an order "cheat sheet" to all families who have signed up to receive our emails. Spirit wear and Grad Hoodies will be offered again this year. All profits on the grad hoodies will be given to the Grad Committee to use towards their year end celebrations. We're just working out some ordering kinks but should have these available for order sometime next week. MASKS - Our supplier has youth and adult adjustable mask available with our school logo on them. I believe pricing will be approximately $7/each for them. We don't charge very much mark up on the ...spirit wear because we want to keep it as reasonable as possible. If you have spirit wear that your family has outgrown please consider donating it back to the school. Thanks for all of the support! PURDYS Chocolate Holiday Fundraiser! (More detailed info to come later) We are definitely launching Purdys fundraiser again this year. Amanda has volunteered her home for the delivery address because we cannot have access to the school due to covid protocols. Then we'll pull and package up orders and we'll deliver to the school so they can be sent home with kids. We'll do what we can to ensure they are tied up so there's no peeking! ... Please tell you family too - this is a fabulous fundraiser for our school community with Purdys giving us 25% of the sales back to us in cash. Due to covid we are not able to run all of the fun and yummy fundraisers like usual so every order will help us. All orders will have to be paid online with credit card or other method approved by Purdys. As long as your friend or family puts your child's name on the online order form we can connect the package with your child so they can bring it home. We're just picking our delivery date and should have more info soon. We're hoping to have the order delivered to PV during the last week of November so they can go out well before the holidays.

Looks like they've changed their structure and are allowing for single day registration. Good afternoon My name is Kelly and I am the Recreation Programmer who is coordinating the after school program from Ecole Oceanside Elementary School to Oceanside Place arena. For our first meeting we will be discussing Introductions, PAC Elections and potential fundraisers - the ones we are actually allowed to do. Just a note, when you first join the zoom you will be automatically muted - not because we don't love you, we do, but some folks like to eat their microphones and background noise can slow things up a bit and can be overwhelming for some. THANK YOU - to all of our amazing children who evacuated the school this afternoon in a calm and reasonable manner. THANK YOU - to all of our incredible teachers, admin, support staff, and SD staff that were on site to help get everyone out of the building safely. THANK YOU - to the parents who although may have been nervous and worried for their children's safety, remained calm and adhered to parking and position requests by the school and from volunteers.... THANK YOU - Volunteers who helped direct cars/parents to make first responder access to our school easier. THANK YOU - to our Parksville Fire and Police Departments and Fortis BC who responded and got to the school in a very short amount of time. Thank you to everyone who helped make this evacuation safe and successful. PAC has no additional information to provide other than it was a suspected gas leak due to an unpleasant odor in the school. It was determined by Fortis and the Fire Dept' that the building was safe for children and staff to re-enter.

THANKFULLY, our fabulous Admin team has given us the green light to offer SPIRIT WEAR, GRAD WEAR, and PURDYS this year.
